I remember I played a similar game on the Apple //e, I can't remember the name though.
I do remember that for launching nukes you needed to enter a code which I didn't have so I could only launch chemical attacks and then the enemy would slaughter me by nuking me, was one the more original copy protection schemes. ^^

I found it, it is Theatre Europe.

I think its the team name rather than the individual player though - not sure if that's better or worse...
