zeffyr: Just out of curiosity, what is the highest-placed game on the bestsellers list which you don't own and why?

The list is here.
I'll make a wild guess: Rainbow Six (refuse to buy it without the expansion pack(s)). Let's see what it is in reality.

EDIT: Wrong of course. The correct answer is Grim Fandango Remastered on the page 5.

Reason for not buying: I have the original retail version already, hence I am waiting for a deeper discount to get the remake.

Next on that same page is Cossacks Anthology. I haven't bought it because I already have the Cossacks 1+2 collection from DotEmu (DRM-free and whatnot), Why isn't Cossacks 2 on GOG anyway?

Alpha Centauri, it seems. After that, Rollercoaster Tycoon and System Shock 2.
Oh, I forgot the reason why I don`t own Planescape Torment. It`s because I don`t like this D&D universe and the rules of it.

Alpha Centauri, because I have trouble upholding interest in most strategy games for long. The genre never really appealed that much to me.

Frankly, I didn't play much of Theme Hospital and Dungeon Keeper 2 either, I just bought them out of curiosity and nostalgia, remembering my love for Theme Park and my imagination running wild what a cool game Dungeon Keeper had to be, when I read about it in a game mag as a teen and had no chance of buying or even running it. I guess back then I imagined it more like a cross of Hero Quest and what Orcs Must Die much later turned out to be - I was pretty obsessed with its - in my imagination 'amazingly immersive' - 3D perspective. :D I played through all the of RPGs though (with the exception of the Shadows of Undrentide add-on for NWN).

Torment is the most atypical of the D&D games though, and not very heavy on the rules.

Planescape (I haven't tested any of these titles).
I got the BG games on CD and own the EE on GOG for BG, BG2 and IWD.
Dungeon Keeper (never got into it)
Theme Park Hospital (come on...)
Alpha Centauri (meeehh)
HoMM (not my type of game)
Temple of Elemental Evil (no idea)
...

If I skip all the real time strategy and simulation, plus some titles I never got the feel of interest, I look good.

p.s. and no sci-fi RPG and no racing games and no....

I was about to say most of them, and then i notice you're referring to the best selling on GoG...

Caesaur 3
Pharaoh + Cleopatra
Zeus + Poseidon
Gabriel Knights 1+2
Populous 1+2, (the beginning)
Quest for Glory 1-5
Outcast 1.1
Kings Quest 4-6
Real Myst
Star Wars, Tie Fighter...

That's the first 2 pages... i'm not going to search further.
Dungeon Keeper 2 as well. just don't have enough time to play it.
balders gate 2

i didnt like the first so i am not apt to like the second much either

blasphemy!!!! ;)
Stronghold HD based on anywhere, I have enough builder / strat games already
System Shock 2 I don't own on GOG, I have finished it on retail, I may also own it on Steam, not sure, it's been in enough bundles...
Hm. "Freespace 2" is the one for me. I guess it hasn't been in a promotion lately. (I'm such a fool when it comes to discounts.....)

zeffyr: For me, the top not grayed out game on the list is Dungeon Keeper 2. I just never got into DK1, so the sequel doesn't tempt me at all.
DK2 is the game I first played in the series. It's very, very, very nice. I finished it twice.
However, I just didn't enjoy the 1st so much (maybe it's because I played the second and it has better graphics)
Took me a while to realise it was bestselling on GOG (the list gave it away, but until then...).

Of these, and considering not only GOG purchases, Dungeon Keeper 2. Just not my kind of game.

Surprisingly enough, looks like I have at least 11 of the top 15 (not sure about Sid Meier's Alpha Centauri; if own it that would make 12). That's when counting some version variation (for example, I only have the original BG, not the Full Saga).

Edit:

Counting only things I own on GOG, Planescape: Torment would be the first. Why? Because I already own it on physical and not planning to replay soon.

Anyway, top 15 list ownership:

PS:T - physical
BG2 - GamersGate, Google Play (Enhanced Edition)
NWN - GOG, physical
DK2 - don't own, no interest
Theme Hospital - physical
BG - physical (only base campaign)
Alpha Centauri - not sure, I think I have a physical copy
NWN2 - GamersGate (complete) and physical (only original campaign)
HoMM3 - physical
Icewind Dale - don't own because combat oriented
Icewind Dale 2 - don't own because combat oriented
ToEE - physical
Witcher - GOG and Steam
Witcher 2 - GOG
Arcanum - GOG

What do you mean by "D&D universe"? Planescape is quite a different setting than The Forgotten Realms.

I didn't like the first all that much either, but it was worth slogging through it so I could play the second, which remains one of my favorite RPGs to this day. :P.
