Because I see a shitload of crap indie games lately, and not for cheap either. Do they actually 'curate' anything?

They're not crap just because you don't like them.

It makes sure this does not happen here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Gz3UgDu7fUo
They sit two interns in front of a laptop to play 10 minutes' worth of the game. These two interns then do a Siskel and Ebert sort of thing where they either give it a thumbs down or a thumbs up. If there's at least one thumbs up, they take it. If it's two thumbs down, it's "too niche to appeal to the broader market".

Oh no! You can't stand a couple games that others might like? Shame on them!

(Thanks for the laugh though) ;)

What does GOG curation mean to me?
Being able to be me when I don't exactly have that fresh feeling!

A couple half-assed strategy and pixel art games....a couple? Are you kidding me? This has become 16 bit hipster central.

...wait, you're seriously upset?
I thought the thread was made in jest.

What do you care what's here? You don't have to buy it.
On top of that, have you actually played said games to determine for YOURSELF whether they're good or not, or are you basing this judgement solely on what you've seen in trailers, pictures, etc.?
You'd think that here on GOG, a place chock-full of old games and old gamers, the community would be the MOST open to retro-style games.

Talking about quality sweetie pie.

What's "quality" to you may very well be utter crap to another person, dearie.

And again, I reiterate my previous question:
Have you actually played said games to determine for YOURSELF whether they're good or not, or are you basing this judgement solely on what you've seen in trailers, pictures, etc.?

I can't agree with that first statement more, but the self-contradiction is blindly evident if I see certain people use it.

You don't see many people argue back when a game has the opposite of what the OP is complaining about, and it's apparently crap do you?

Just mentioning the observation is all... not looking for an argument.

Personally, I don't really care what games are available. In fact, I like having more to choose from rather than having my options limited.
I note that the same people who complain about the "low-quality" recent releases (which they're often in the minority in as these games usually receive excellent reviews on Steam and other services) never say anything about how the Hugo games should be removed from here because they're so terrible, or how the Zork Anthology is a rip-off because you can download the first three games for free.
They tend to act as if, just because they, a small number of people who happen to use the forum, like a certain type of game (stealth, action, RPG, whatever), that EVERYBODY will somehow want it when that simply isn't the case. The forum is not the majority. If anything, it's the slim minority in many aspects.

If a developer has put legitimate hard work into a game, I see no reason to hate it. Recognize it as something which you dislike, but don't act like it's some end-of-the-world wreck which deserves to be purged from the earth.
The exception is if they're scam artists or something like, say, Digital Homicide.

The problem a lot of people have here is what GOG rejects rather than what they accept (if you rejected X, why is Y here?!). So really, the base problem isn't "I hate the new game here!", the problem is "I hate the fact that the game I wanted isn't here!"

The same can be about the 'majority' who say 'hey fuck you for saying you don't like a low-budget game, I'm going to throw stones at you!'.
Problem is, because there is seemingly a majority of people who like certain games as you say; the discussion on what's good and what's not becomes very uneven.
I mean, look at the replies to this thread basically bashing the poor OP for voicing their opinion. Then you go to say 'what's *quality to you...shit to others', which should have just been everyone's statement. There's a fantastic quote along the lines of 'while I don't agree with what you say, I'll defend to the death your right to say it'. Much better than 'I don't agree with what you say so I'm going to belittle you until you run and hide'.

Yep, totally agree.

There is always other services for games gog doesn't deliver so there is no problem. At the end we have to recognize that there will never be as many games here as on Steam as long as gog curates stuff be it the way we like or dislike. At this point when Steam catalog has breached 10.000 games and gogs reaches 1713 games today its ridiculous to expect gog to get all the games we wan't or like from the current flood of indies and all the other AAA games. Plus the quality is lacking in most of them. So kudos to gog for getting at least some games here. Even if potentially I get nothing to buy for months on gog. But usually they manage to squezee a game or two, through their curration cracks, that actually manage to interest me.

I haven't really seen anything so far that could be interpreted as bashing him. Everybody more or less said the same thing I did, that he's getting all uptight over a matter of opinion.
The OP also comes across as rather hostile and condescending, which only encourages sarcastic responses.

Really, we should all just learn to recognize the whole thing as a matter of opinion and, as I previously said, that we're upset not that there are new games here, but that the games we wanted aren't here. Telling GOG that their current options are crap accomplishes nothing (the games are already here, so what do you want, GOG to remove them from the store?). Explaining to them that the options you want would be a good idea to include might just work.
