I think with me it's my avatar that attracts the unsavoury types.

tinyE: I lose six a day if I post or not.

Tauto: You lose six a day? That is a load of shit,(people take note) because he pumps it back up with his alts.

Tocran: I have just noticed today that one of last days my rep went from 9 to -8. I haven't been very active last weeks, so I don't really understand.
avatar
Tauto: If you entered or asked for a game, then you are the victim of apehater an expert with his alts at down voting.
^ Tauto's hypocrisy n.147: accuses others without proof
He's also quite informed about tinyE's rep..

It's good practice to keep copies of s**t posts, so people don't forget who you really are.

Tocran:
There's "rep" and there's "reputation".

Your "rep" is an artificial numerical score that is entirely meaningless in the forums. Others have explained some of how it works, but whatever purpose it was once developed for it no longer serves at all because it is broken and abused heavily by an ever increasing number of people in the forums it seems. Perhaps that's even a good thing, because if it is abused heavily enough GOG might finally just remove the code and get rid of it completely as it only stands to divide the community more than anything these days. Best thing to do is ignore rep and just not care about it.

Your "reputation" on the other hand, that is something that others have little to no control over whether they like you or your posts or dislike you or your posts. Like in real life, your reputation is something each person decides in their mind about you based on their own personal observations of how you communicate, conduct yourself, and behave in the public forums, much like in the rest of real life.

The best thing to do is ignore rep, and simply try to be a friendly member of the community and contribute to the greater good. It's ok to share opinions, agree and disagree with others, but best to not take things too seriously or get overly heated in discussions etc. Overall the community here is a pretty friendly bunch of people. Even if you get caught up in a disagreement with someone, try to avoid making it a personal thing or holding grudges etc. and hopefully the other parties do the same thing and in the end everyone wins, and everyone's real world reputation grows in the minds of everyone else.

Nobody can doctor your "reputation" with a mouse click or browser addon, and anyone who has been around long enough here go by "reputation" not by "rep" when it comes to anything where either would matter. :)

+1 for it ;)

And for Tocran:
Unfortunate, you have to take it in the moment with a bit of c'est la vie approach, unfortunate enough.

Breja: ... Rep is totally meaningless ...
That's not totally true though. Something like -300 might be a hint of something. I agree though that it should not taken too seriously.

I like to print and collate mine for easy reference.

Titanium: I've got rep for days.
Weeks even !... maybe ....

I suggest a digital archive.
avatar
phaolo: I suggest a digital archive.
I try to stay away from anything digital or repository.

My doctor suggested a digital examination once and since then I've regretted the decision, never again.
avatar
tinyE: Also it looks like you made fun of someone for having low rep. Normally that wouldn't be a problem but that certain someone is pretty much the reason this forum went from being Eden to a shit hole overnight, so it's your bad luck to end up giving crap to him.
avatar
Tocran: I hope so.

Well, I generally don't make fun of people. Maybe I did ?

Well, now I know how GOG forums are.
Just don't bother with the rep system. It is useless and serves no purpose. Let trolls express their frustrations through it. Don't let it turn a good experience into a bad one.
Gog is pretty cool, imo. Just avoid the spammers and trolls, like in any other internet board.

I'm not sure if an analogic examination would have been much different XD
