Crewdroog: i knew i liked you for a reason! :) I also like "tonight I can write the saddest lines...". Also the poem he wrote about artichokes is good ;)

HypersomniacLive: Ah...

Love is so short, forgetting is so long.

Though this be the last pain that she makes me suffer
and these the last verses that I write for her.

HypersomniacLive: Don't remember the artichokes poem, have to look it up.

If you haven't already, you should also read 100 Love Sonnets.
I own that too! though I don't remember it quite as well as 20 love poems.
here is the artichoke: http://www.motherbird.com/artichoke.html
i like the part about the pomegranate, haha. it's a silly poem, but i liked it.

Hahaha, it is indeed a bit silly, how could I forget about it?

Perhaps we should set up a Pablo Neruda reading club here.
I'm not sure this qualifies, as I did not write it for the occasion. Rather it is an excerpt from my novel. Accordingly, it begins and ends somewhat in medias res. Still, it is a love story... ...of sorts.

Anyhow, if it proves to the missus' liking, I would wish to be considered, in accordance with the romantic tone of this thread, for Mortal Kombat 1+2+3.

P.S. Change the file's extension from jpg to pdf.

I Ain't Goin' Nowhere

i ain't goin' nowhere nohow
i ain't goin' nowhere
i'm too stuck on you
i'm too broke to move
and i'm a little too dumb to scare
so you can tell me 'til you're blue
that it's over we're through
and i can go to hell for all that you care
but i'll tell you resolutely
you may have to shoot me
'cause i ain't goin' nowhere

now you can say that i'm stubborn
you can call me a slob
you can tell me that i shoulda
got me a better payin' job
oh but you knew all of this
before you gave me that kiss
and it was all still true
the day you said i do

so i ain't goin' nowhere nohow
i ain't goin' nowhere
i'm too stuck on you
i'm too broke to move
and i'm a little too dumb to scare
so you can tell me 'til you're blue
that it's over we're through
and i can go to hell for all that you care
but i'll tell you resolutely
you may have to shoot me
'cause i ain't goin' nowhere

now i could point out that you're picky
and that you always think you're right
i could mention that the car on the way to church
ain't the best place to pick a fight
oh but i knew all of this
before i gave you that kiss
and it was all still true
the day i said i do

and it's been a long time
that we been together
and i don't wanna walk out
i think we can work it out
we just stick it out
a little bit longer

and i ain't goin' nowhere nohow
i ain't goin' nowhere
i'm too stuck on you
i'm too broke to move
and i'm a little too dumb to scare
so you can tell me 'til you're blue
that it's over we're through
and i can go to hell for all that you care
but i'll tell you resolutely
you may have to shoot me
'cause i ain't goin' nowhere

I'll be in for Bastion, please.

Today my phone autocorrected me. I texted my wife that I'm looking forward to a romantic Vanderbilt's Day.

Cheers!

Another wonderful giveaway, trentonlf! Not in but if I can muster the time, I'll see what I can put together :D
thanks for the giveaway

not in ... because lack of poetry skills
I'm in for a Harry Potter Lego game :)

It's Nearly Valentine's Day, Love

& It's cold and blustery today
Trees bend - and creak - and sway
So I am glad warm thoughts of you
Wrap around my heart to stay.
As I snuggle in and thank you.

It's gloomy outside, Dearest Heart
But within our house we've lit bright sparks
Kindly words, gentle hugs, and a tasty stew
Will see us through.

And we have some fun games too!

Tonight -

I'll settle beside you with my crochet hook
- or maybe read a cozy mystery book
Both of us glad that love changes as it grows
Peaceful, warm and friendly presence
makes the best kind of Valentine's presents.
But we'll still enjoy the cookies and the rose. ;)

haha, that would be fun! it may just be you and me though, but that's fine. Do we get to have titles? can we haze new members?
I guess spanish poems wouldn't rhyme at all for an english speaker and besides the ones I wrote didn't leave any copies other than those on my heart.

; )

Thanks for the giveaway!
GIVEAWAY CLOSED

Thanks to everyone for the wonderful stories and poems! My wife really enjoyed them and thanks you all :)

My wife was most touched by zeo's story so he will receive Harry Potter 5-7!

I was hoping for more entries to giveaway more games, so maybe later I will try another one that does not involve Love poems or stories ;-)

Thanks again everyone!
Congratulations to zeo and many thanks to you, trentonlf, for another generous giveaway.
Wow, I've never won a giveaway before. Thanks for the giveaway trentonlf, you gave me the idea to write something nice for my gf. She loved it. :)))

budejovice: Damn it.

Just kidding. Thank you very much for this great giveaway trentonlf! I'll step aside and let those who weren't able to buy a few this morning have a shot.

HVD to you and your wife. :)
Yeah, that rules me out too. ;)

And, I got necro-tricked. Ah well, got me thinking about poetry anyway. And I was excited to see Sage back!
