GOG staff seems to really be into the SCP foundation....

Don't mind me...
Oh no, they are taking notes! SCATTER before they find our secrets!

ponczo_: Or maybe something nice, like a Lagun being born in another galaxy.
I went to check the The Polish Branch of the Foundation and not gonna lie, I'm genuinely upset no one is working on a Lagun story. It's clearly an euclid; now secured, contained and protected (or consumed, we don't know)
Ummm yep

Orkhepaj: scp? whats that?
social credit police?
Something worse, and that we should be glad doesn't exist in our reality: imagine lovecraftian horrors like beings/items/etc that can warp reality or endanger a bunch of people....that's what SCPs are.

(SCP is also the term given to all such items, and also the fictional organization that guards against/secures/etc said SCP items)

timppu: At first the link wasn't there, and then wrong links were provided...
Afaik the link in the OP post was working most of the time this thread has been up...unlike the later links in other posts.

avatar
timppu: I also checked that out yesterday, so is that really something everyone should know, what SCP (in this context) means?
Well no, unless one is into and likes said stories/lore/verses, that is.

avatar
timppu: I don't recall if I have ever heard about this SCP horror story stuff before, sounds even odder than "Salad Fingers" or "Slender Man" or "CreepyPasta" or what have you. To me SCP still meant "Service Control Point" in the telecom network, sorry.
It happens.......and yeah, it is odd...it's supposed to be. ;D

(and yeah, it's also more or less a creepypasta "verse" written and maintained by a community of people)
(btw the game Control is more or less a ripof...err homage to that verse)

avatar
timppu: So this is what all the cool whippersnappers do nowadays then... I am so out of the loop, I don't even know (nor care about) the current haircolor of Billie Ellish, and I am not even sure if I have heard any of her songs, or at least recognize them being hers.
Join the club....I don't know half the songs these new bands/singers make.
(though I do know some newer songs, although sometimes not who made them)

avatar
timppu: So what is this discussion about? Wondering how come some SCP stories, which apparently are supposed to be as weird as possible, are so weird?
It seems to be for people to find and post their favorite SCPs from that lore/verse/etc, especially ones they find really odd/weird.

avatar
timppu: What I learned though is that there are apparently two different freeware "SCP" games made years ago, any idea if they are any good?
I think I played one awhile back....it was crude in ways, but nice enough.

Btw as said above: Control is more or less a polished commercial attempt at making such a game, if you're interested and don't have that game yet

avatar
timppu: At least I can use my age as an excuse, but you are, what, 11 years old? You should know this trending stuff.
Or at least such people(in general) should be able to use a search engine. :)

Australian rat plague could be an SCP all on it's own!

says no silos for economic reasons... dunno, but they would be pretty useful now
I personally had fun reading about the entry file of SCP-3000, it was almost like reading one of those Jules Vernes stories
Speaking of SCP, what ever happened to the Holder series?
shhh thats my next thread
