Up to 70% off Stronghold HD, Stronghold Crusader HD, Expeditions: Conquistador and more!

Ain't no one too cool for school. Ain't no one. Not even GOG.com. We still enjoy a brief History Lesson from time to time, especially the gaming kind. And that's what these Weekly Staff Picks are all about, because sometimes medieval settings are better with a splash of authenticity, not dragons and magic. Sometimes.

Feel the massive scale and intrigue of a medieval kingdom in Crusader Kings - engage in courtly intrigue and betrayal, bribe, manipulate, and assassinate your way into wealth and power. King Arthur’s Gold gives you the freedom to build up, or dig down, to fortify your position against a fury of troops, siege weapons, and vehicles. This week you can also get medieval on your foes. In HD! Stronghold HD and Stronghold Crusader HD are two memorable medieval RTS games simulating pre-firearm warfare, newly upgraded with High Definition graphics. With a major modding community and a unique opportunity to become a medieval warlord in charge of a small army (and your own piece of land) it's no wonder these two became timeless classics. The package comes with the HD re-releases as well as the originals! Set in the newly-discovered Americas, Expeditions: Conquistador gives you the opportunity to play through the discovery of a wondrous new land and people. Follow the intricately branching plot and choose to follow the path that history has laid out for you, or take things in a new direction and discover one of history's greatest What-if scenarios.

Our History Lesson is in session starting now! Pick up these amazing learning materials at up to 70% off in this week's Weekly Staff Picks. The promo will last until Thursday, May 21, 9:59 AM GMT.

amund: I wish Crusader Kings 2 was on GOG.
Maybe it will at some point but Paradox is not done with releasing DLC for it....

But when they're finally finished i would be really looking forward to see a release here!

Yes, Paradox sure love DLCs for their newer games. I wouldn't be surprised if DLC-focused games will end up here because of the Galaxy client in the near future.

gamesfreak64: maybe under the doormat , the place where most people put the door key, or if there are plants, check these as well, thats the most common place to hide keys and maybe credit cards aswell.

If that doesn't work you might give the good old cookie jar a try, or look in the old teapot that's usally stored in an old closet.

If all of the above fails try the old lunch box were people used to keep money, or last but not least look under the bed and seach for (old) socks.

ps: the carpet might be worth looking under aswell

tinyE: Honestly I might have maxed it out. I've been buying thousands of dollars of cheese products with it.

I wonder how long we can keep this stupid joke going. :P
that many cheese? this sounds a bit cheesy you know.
if you maxed it out, then they might have shredded the card, or cut in half, did you check the garbage can or the shredder?

Possible but i would prefer if they would release it either as a Complete Edition or the way Darksiders was released - with an addtional DLC pack...

And also, the way GOG manage DLC (in promos and librabry) is not always consistent (cf. Sword Of The Stars The Pit for example) and that could become quickly messy.

A big hurdle is the global price of all this stuff: the whole package is currently at 145€. Even if half-priced in a "complete" bundle", I don't think many will break their wallet. In fact, I'm already sure people would complain about the 40€ for base game or just wait for sales. Multiplayer on Galaxy should be supported too....

So yeah, lots of "issues" with this game if it was to be released here.... (I have the DRM-free version from GG but it's not updated anymore)

I also have the old GG version and the Steam version...but only a minority of the dlc is actually useful imho. Another possibility would be several dlc packs...and at least on Steam CKII is often discounted.

And i also see the possibility of using Galaxy as a Steamworks replacement for the mulitplayer.

Edit: And at least the patched base games and some dlc work without steam...

Best idea would be game expansion dlcs + base game. Like the Venice Republic expansion. The collection package (which doesn't include the newly released dlcs) is available more or less every month on steam at a discounted price of around 35-40€ (at 75% off).

Yeah that's what i meant. Bundling the Game with the essential DLC and offer the rest as an optional package...
And this, just hours after someone advised me to play "Age of Empire" for its history interest.

Why why why GOG Microsoft why.
Nice price on Expeditions: Conquistador .. I have it already elsewhere... reminds me i really liked it, may have to go back and play it again soon..
Crusader Kings says RTS but that looks a lot more turn based to me.

It is real time. It may not be similar to Empire Earth or Age of Empires, but it is real time all the same.
