Robette: So... if I would only play one Myst game ever in my lifetime, which one would I buy?
The original Myst -- although you have a choice between the original discrete movement in pre-recorded scenes (originally stored on CD-ROM) in Myst Masterpiece Edition versus the free-roaming realtime graphics in realMyst: Masterpiece Edition.

Some people feel that the pre-generated graphics in the original (now remastered) was the best way to go, others feel like that's old-fashioned and prefer free-roaming.

But in any case, although #2 (Riven) seems to be higher rated than realMyst on Gog, the opposite is true of steam ratings, so as usual it's subjective -- however I think most people who play any of the sequels played some version of the original first.

To put it another way, if you dislike Myst/realMyst, I think you're unlikely to want to play Riven or Myst III.

I guess I should say that when Myst was new, it was the bestselling game of all time (at that time) because it was extremely atmospheric and mysterious -- and because the graphics were so much higher quality than in anything prior. The graphics are still (arguably) great but no longer better than everything else, so that leaves the mysterious atmosphere and puzzles.
How is the price for Earthlock, does it match the lowest price?

Sarang: How is the price for Earthlock, does it match the lowest price?
Aside from a 90% "star deal" back in December 2017, it has been as low as 75% (January 2018). Mind, 60% is still better than last time it was on sale (50%).
Myst was magic.
