60% off all Interplay treasures: Freespace 2, Star Trek: 25th Anniversary, Sacrifice, Toonstruck, and more!

What's your usual mood while gaming? Do you feel relaxed? Focused? Determined? Accomplished even? In the little poll that we run, 22% replied that it depends on the game, and 13% on whatever real-life issues they are escaping from. The remaining 65% couldn't be bothered to interrupt their session for an answer. But all of them agreed that when going through the list of this Weekend Promo, they feel extremely Interplay-full. Especially after noticing the 60% discount on everything Interplay!

Widely regarded as one of the most engrossing and wonderfully chaotic space combat simulators in our star system, Freespace 2 has become part of the constellation of unmissable classics.

If you are looking for a hilarious, challenging, and gorgeous adventure to fill a weekend or four, you are looking to be Toonstruck. And once your body gets accustomed to surviving high anvil drops and cutifying beams, you'll fit right in. Balloooooon?

A unique blend of strategy and action, enhanced by an engaging plot and distinct art style. To experience it you only need to Sacrifice some of your free time and you can be certain that the gods will compensate you handsomely for that.

Are you feeling Interplay-full too? Well it's hard not to, when 30+ of gaming's shiniest diamonds go for 60% off, including Earthworm Jim 1+2, MDK, Stonekeep, Star Trek: 25th Anniversary, and many more. The promo will last until April 26, 3:59 AM UTC.

If you could afford just one.. Would you get star trek 25 anniversary or judgement rites? That's my dilemma.
Alternative promo title: "Help futilely try to bail out the slowly-sinking ship that is Interplay!"

tomimt: Oh look, Interplay titles are offered in their normal price.
Of the 38 titles in this promo, only 8 are priced higher than 5.99 USD (in the U.S. region, at least), and at least one of those was added well after those long-ago price increases.
Also, $3.99 (the current discounted U.S. price for one of the $9.99 games) would still be a 33% discount on a $5.99 title. ; )

Crosmando: So is VR Soccer good or bad?
avatar
igrok: I recently played it a little. I was skeptical at first but I like it. Compared to the other football game on GOG, Sensible Soccer 96, it's not as brutally hard and humiliating, and a bit more serious. The graphics are quite good for 1996, the sound effects are average, but the commentary makes up for this. My only complain is lack of after match statistics.
Technically, there are two Sensible soccer titles here -- though, judging by the reviews & average rating of the other one, I don't blame you for pretending it doesn't exist. :P

I think this impression has stayed because the price increase affected some of the most popular Interplay stuff like the Descent series, Earthworm Jim 1+2, Fallout series, Freespace 2, Giants and Sacrifice.

darkwark: If you had to choose only 2 games from this list:

- Kingpin
- Sacrifice
- Messiah
- MDK
- MDK 2

What games you would buy?
The only one of those I've played is MDK 2 -- and that was on the Dreamcast -- but I thought it was quite good, with a nice sense of humor, and three somewhat different kinds of gameplay, depending on which of the three characters the game has you control for each section. I recall parts of it being rather challenging, though -- but shooting and platforming at the same time isn't really my forte, so maybe that was just me.
I've heard good things about the first MDK, too...but that's only hearsay. :)

It doesn't seem to have affected many people's willingness to buy those games, though, so it seems Interplay made a decent call there.
Now, if they'd only use some of the extra revenue to pay the royalties they owe to developers and whoever else....

Also: you just HAD to one-up JMich, didn't you? He becomes a "GOG Agent", you put on a tux and become a "GOG Secret Agent". :P

Why is it a dilemma? Isn't 25th Anniversary the first game and Judgement Rites the sequel? You should play it in chronological order.

GOG Undercover Staff couldn't fit into the forum title (bloody 16 characters limit), while GOG Secret Staff sounded more like GOG Secret Stuff. GOG Undercover Agent also didn't fit into the forum title, so I decided to change it to GOG Secret Agent and since we went that route, might as well go for the tux. ;)

Oh.. Didn't really know that. I thought they were 2 separate things, just similar. =)

But aren't they unrelated, plot-wise? Maybe I'm wrong, but I was under the impression that each had a standalone story (or multiple, barely-related stories), and that the second game wasn't a continuation of the first, so much as a follow-up.

EDIT: Added missing "as".

This is probably of interest only to me, but the GoldenEye 007 (N64) difficulty options were "Agent" (easy-ish), "Secret Agent" (medium-hard), "00 Agent" (really hard) and "007" (expert/custom). I almost included a joke in my last reply that next, JMich would have to change his title to "GOG 00 Agent", but I didn't expect anyone to make the connection. =P

I know. ;) Even though I used to hate FPS games, GoldenEye was one of the few I could tolerate back then. Even now, it holds itself up pretty well, though the controls take quite a lot to get used to.

No idea, I have not played them yet as they are lost somewhere in my endless backlog. But in any case I think it makes more sense to play them in release order.

They came out one calendar year apart, so it's not like there should be any major difference between them in graphics, interface, etc.; and assuming there's no plot continuity from the first game to the second, the only reason to play them in release order would be if you feel a personal compulsion to do so. : )
Who's excited for this promo?

MightyPinecone: Those got removed a few months ago if memory serves.
Yep. They are lost somewhere... deep in the mines of Legal Issues.

Grargar: Hang in there.
We must soldier on.

lol
Are there anymore Star Trek games on the way to being released? It seems as though everyone was expecting quite a few and we just got the three initial releases followed by one other game a couple of months later.
