Perhaps the problem is relying on users clicking the downvote button as a measure against spam, instead of actual moderation or preventive measures (wasn't the annoying captcha supposed to avoid bots?).

Apparently, it's supposed to annoy users who want to buy games by not loading properly and effectively locking them out of GOG.

No, unfortunately many users use the downvote button instead of actual arguments.
But of course GOG should prevent such spam attacks much better - and captchas obviously don't help, they only annoy legit users.

As a bit more clarification to everyone: I meant it'd be like how there's an option right now in the old settings to autohide low rated comments....well users could on their end hide all threads by any user(though others could see them) and thus not be bothered by spam or those they dislike.

Some here who dislike my threads and some other user's threads could also make use of such a feature and wouldn't feel the need anymore to low rate en masse, as well.

(Also sigh.....I give or try to give good advice and get blanket downrated by the usual suspects.....silly w*nkers are up I see[or were up])

This. If people dislike me and others they could tell us why more(without insults as some do) and we could maybe come to a middle ground understanding.

Do they do this? Nope, they downrate even good comments by several here and move on like that does more than piss people off and confuse them.

Also that's why I stick by my suggestion earlier. It would allow users to filter out spam until staff could see it with a few clicks to hide user's threads.

I'm a bit curious - it seems like these posts are meant to contain links, but of course the one thing GoG forum does succeed in doing is blocking links for users whose rep is too low.

Couldn't it block the whole post? Or does it, and whoever is doing this is spamming nonsense with no link or obvious purpose besides making us all click a bunch of spam reports?

At this point the spammer(if it is one) would have seen the low return on clicks from this site and how they keep getting banned. Not many spammers have stuck around this long. As such, I wonder if it's someone trolling as a spammer. :\
