MysterD: I'm a big fan of sci-fi cyberpunk settings - you know, like Deus Ex games and Blade Runner movie.

I'm always looking for something along the Deus Ex sort of realm & one of those genre-bending "immersive sims" (which often are RPG/action/shooter/stealth/adventure hybrids (see Arkane's games, Looking Glass' games, Deus Ex, Dishonored games).

Deus Ex 1 is one of my favorite games of all time. And IMHO, one of the best games of all time.

So more of that, I'm game for.

And w/ Cyberpunk, to me, that looks also on the size, scope, and scale of a huge GTA type of game.

Toss in also the Badlands, which looks right one of a Mad Max movie and game - yeah, I couldn't be more sold on this CP 2077 game, TBH.

nightcraw1er.488: Have you played the mad max game? It has some good bits. The other has a lot of the problems of the open world genre though.
I do like the gta style games though, sleeping dogs is obviously one of the best and the saboteur is very good too. U fortunately the other end of the scale...
Max Max game.

Yes, I have.

But, I never finished the Mad Max game.

For me, there's too much open-world/not-interesting side-quest stuff. Not that spectacular of character or story stuff either, unfortunately.

Max Max game looks, runs, plays, and performs great (yeah, even back when it came out!) - but it has the usual issue that I have with Avalanche's games - problems mentioned above paragraph.

Just Cause series & RAGE 2 also have these problems.

I really wish Origin's version of Mad Max would go on sale dirt-cheap, so I could own a Denuvo-less version of that game. Steam-version still is equipped w/ that anti-tamper junk.

Saboteur & Sleeping Dogs.
Oh, both of those were fantastic. Two great GTA-like type of games.

Breja: I don't think you understand what I'm talking about.

I'm not discussing the quality of the game (obviously, since it's not even out yet). I'm saying that I don't get why so many people are so hyped about it based on what we've seen so far, because what we've seen is in my opinion generic and underwhelming. A great trailer may not be any basis for opinion on the quality of a game, but I still find it much easier to understand getting hyped because of a really good, memorable one, than a bland one.
Thanks for the clarification. So I DO know what you're talking about (in a way). Quality or hype, for many people it's just semantics. What am I saying? Hype probably sells more games than quality (ignoring subjectivity).

But ok, maybe I misunderstood the perspective in your post.

The producers NEED to inform the specs for the game, they r only delaying my purchase. -.-'

What are your PC specs? Depending on your answer I might be able to tell you something with a high degree of probability.

e.g. Intel 620? Fuggetaboutit!
Well, all I need to know is system requirements. Game is aleready preordered and my reaction to this trailer: Let me in! LET ME IN-N-N-N-N-N-N!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yep, I agree on just cause. Although. Did enjoy 2 and 3. Am currently playing watch dogs, which has all the usual, with some novelties. Cops are a total pain in the nutsacks, and the traffic simulation is really bad (example, every time you get to lights either all cars are crossing to create barrier, or turning your way. GTA5 had a better traffic simulation.
Rage was the o, didn’t like the second.
Oh, and suppose at this point I should mention black sail (ac4) cracking game, mostly open world, spoilt by collectibles and repetition. Really wish they pushed out the mod tools so that could be expanded.
Skimmed through the stream, not impressed to be honest. :/

I'm tempted to cancel my pre-order, I guess I'll wait for more footage first. :(
It's not what I thought it'd be, oh well, maybe I'll be pleasantly surprised by new trailers and gameplay videos. :P

Look good.
Looked real good.
But like Marko said, there are no system requirements announced yet.

I'm with millions of people that will never switch to windows spyware 10.
The good news is that stadia runs on ubuntu so people will be able to buy Linux version year later.
Check some gaming sites people. You'll find more gameplay videos there than it was shown in the yesterday Wire. For example:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-vm3PzhsHb0
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lPTxQhvGo_Q.

Do it especially if you're planning to cancel your pre-order. Maybe you'll change your mind :)

Breja: That's a thing a beauty. That moment the whiskey glass cracks a little? Poetry. The music? Unforgettable. The whole thing just oozes style, while at the same time teasing a game of great substance, and with unique identity. The Cyberpunk trailers? They feel generic as hell and the most memorable thing about them is a famous actor showing up.

teceem: A trailer is like a commercial. Do you form an opinion on (any) product based on the quality of its commercial? Just a question... many people do.
avatar
MysterD: Doesn't matter to me, if it's in 1st person, 3rd person, or (my favorite) the player can toggle the camera on-the-fly between the two camera view (think Thief: Deadly Shadows).
avatar
teceem: I was trying to say something about the concept of "immersion" (you mentioned immersive sim"), not about your favorite gameplay. If you can see a meaningful protagonist while playing, isn't that more "immersive"?
"Immersive sim" is the commonly-used term for a genre-bender done in the style of games from Looking Glass, Ion Storm, and Arkane games - i.e. System Shock series; Arx Fatalis; Dishonored series; Thief series; and Deus Ex series.

"Immersive sim" is a lot easier to say than that games are often a mixture and hybrids of a bunch of these genres: RPG/action/adventure/shooter/stealth game.

And often, "immersive sims" are games that have a ton of lore, world-building, and stuff of that sort to be found within them.

For be, becoming a character - whether it's supposed to be "me" b/c it's purposely blank-slated that way as if I was tossed into this world or some other pre-set character with no real change to them, or a character where I can actually choose their background, traits, make decisions in game to shape the character - doesn't matter entirely to me.

Also, same goes for camera/viewpoint - I don't care if it's in first-person or third-person. Honestly, I'd rather games allow the player to switch on the fly like some of the Hitman games and Thief: Deadly Shadows - let the player decide. But, we do know it's extra work for them to also animate both viewpoints - so, it's up to the dev's.

If it's first-person, them whether I'm supposed to be myself or a set character like Corvo, they are thrusting me into the role of this character. I'm now THAT character - whether there's branching decisions to make or not. It might feel more real and personal to me if it's in 1st person, as I can see the game as if in real life, how I see stuff as myself in 1st person; through my own eyes.

Same goes if the camera is right behind me - I have the gamepad and/or KB-mouse, I am controlling this character with their movement and motions directly. Even if there is or isn't branching decisions or not on how quests/missions/game-ending/character/or whatever turns out.

I dunno, but I've been immersed numerous times - whether it in first person or third. Vampire: Bloodlines, Deus Ex series, Witcher series, Dragon Age: Origins, Arcanum, etc etc - they all have immersed me, the player, in numerous different ways. Whether it's camera-view, storytelling, the game-world itself, graphics quality, a particular setting, decision-making/branching choices, lore in the game-world, and/or whatever.

Here is one gameplay video which captures everything that some have missed out on.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZmvEu8To9vA

William Gibson was actually kind of right. It's really more GTA than Cyberpunk, but fun nevertheless.

One good thing is that, there seems to be more third-person views, namely the street driving. It seems to be the main way to travel distances around night city.

BD looks very interesting. I usually avoid hype culture and often - far from pre-ordering - I will usually wait a year or two before a buy a game to make sure it's complete etc.
But with the well earned reputation of DCPR and the quality of the content shown I've blown all the way past "pre-order" and have been gifting the game to my friends (via GOG of course).

I am so excited to play this, I may have to take some vacation time when the game drops to really dive in.

I wouldn't be surprised in the PC version, someone finds a way to mod the game with a toggle-key/hotkey to switch b/t 3rd person view and first person view, on-the-fly and while on foot.
I saw this post before it has been edited... and... I do appreciate official GOG/CDP channels and websites.
