viperfdl: I guess this makes it even more unlikely that Blizzards old classics will come to gog.com.
You say that like there ever was a chance before. =P
Diablo 2 remaster when?
ya even though it's kinda a shameless money grab for 30€ it's still kinda legit as the games are good and as it includes Frozen Throne. Sadly nothing much really good considering story based RTS was released in the last few years ^^ and ya sadly Spellforce 3 for example was rather disappointing (not bad though just not really good)

Grargar: Did Warcraft 3 really need a remaster?

Put me in the camp of "I'd rather Blizzard remaster/rerelease/rewhatever Diablo 1 and/or Warcraft 1+2".
Indeed. After they started patching Warcraft 3 again I never thought they'd actually remaster it too. I think the original game + expansion was available in the battle.net shop until now.
I'll probably still take a look at the new version anyway. Played it too long to not care about this re-release.

I kind enjoyed WC3, but it was more or less completely lacking the charm of the previous 2 games, it's a good example of why Blizzard should lose the right to do sequels and remasters. It's a good game, it's just not in keeping with the spirit of those previous games.

I struggled with the linearity of the campaigns - as much as I love RPGs, the story/RP aspect here seemed to really throttle a lot of the RTS on a lot of the maps.

On the other hand, I still enjoy skirmish mode in WC3 enough to reinstall from disc every year or three, but my desire to replay the campaigns is very low.

I don't personally get the obsession with cramming stories into genres that don't require them. FPS, RTS those hidden object games, the story is pretty much beside the point.

OTOH, an RPG without some sort of meaningful story is not likely to fly.
Can't bother anymore with remasters.

Do something new. That looks new. Play new. That introduce novities.

Be careful what you wish for in your desire for something "new"

Yay it's "only" $50 for a remaster of a game I finished umpteen years ago. No thx Blizzard.

If it had new campaigns maybe but visual/audio remastering and sweet f**K all else?? Ah..... no

Seems like "remastering" is the new "sequel"

$50 is pricey for just a remaster. According to Blizzard, there is rebalancing in the works for Warcraft 3: Reforged, “hundreds of balance changes to heroes, units and buildings” to modernize the game, plus adding more stuff to the editor, the cinematic cutscenes, retcons of the lore. And also crossplay with original W3 owners.

Still, I'm not convinced that the new content will be worth $35 more compared to Starcraft remastered which also has crossplay. Also, not interested in going through the WC3 campaign yet again. I'll pass on this

I hope they retool undead. They were kind of sucky in the original.
Let's wait another decade or two for Warcraft IV....
