It seems that you're using an outdated browser. Some things may not work as they should (or don't work at all).
We suggest you upgrade newer and better browser like: Chrome, Firefox, Internet Explorer or Opera

skeletonbow: My normal tab count is between 100-300 active tabs, however depending on what I'm working on/researching etc. at any given time it can skyrocket up from there. Up until about 2 weeks ago, for the last few months I had 1600-1900 tabs open in Firefox ongoing.
avatar
ET3D: What extensions do you use to manage the tabs? I use TabMixPlus for multiple tab rows, but I've had problems with pretty much all tab groups extensions, particularly when being used with TabMixPlus.
I use TabMixPlus, Tile Tabs, and Max Tabs, and they all work together fine. I've experimented with tab group extensions and I always end up just not caring for the workflow of tab groups. There was one extension I forget the name of that let you have a tab group toolbar that showed up above the tab bar which I really liked because it made tab groups always visible and easy to drag and drop tabs between groups. Sadly that extension turned out to be rather unstable and I had to get rid of it so I don't use any kind of tab groups anymore. If I could find one that worked like that one did that wasn't unstable and didn't destroy my entire tab list, I'd consider using one again though as it did make it easier to organize things and cut down on extraneous tabs being left around longer than their useful life.

Right now I am using bookmark toolbar folders organized using GTD principles to maintain a more useful workflow and cut down on clutter and that seems to work out well but takes a bit of discipline. Max Tabs extension helps out with that as a sort of friendly reminder "hey, time to cleanup your dead tabs man!" :)

skeletonbow: I have a huge number of extensions but some of the more well known ones that I use include AdBlock Plus, Adblock Plus Popup Addon, Element Hiding Helper for Adblock Plus, NoScript, RequestPolicy, Ghostery, Better Privacy, Abine Privacy Suite, Disconnect, Classic Theme Restorer, Cookie Monster 1.2.0, CollorZilla, DNS Flusher, DownloadHelper, Download Manager (S3), Enhanced Steam, Firefox Developer Tools Adapters, Force-TLS, Greasemonkey, Greasefire, HTML Validator, HTTPS-Everywhere, HTTPS-Finder, IPvFox, Is It Compatible?, Max Tabs, Nightly Tester Tools, Privacy Badger, Scriptify, SPDY indicator, Stylish, Tab Mix Plus, Tile Tabs, YouTube High Definition ...
Mother of god. How much ram does this even use on average? I am considering switching back to FF from Chrome. I used to have FF back when it was v4. Lately Chrome has gotten so bloated, sometimes I even feel IE runs faster.

skeletonbow: Right now I am using bookmark toolbar folders
Bookmarks would help, but I don't like local ones, never got Firefox to sync well, and the Google bookmarks plugins stopped working well at some point (and never were that great). Just did a search and found EverSync, which allows syncing (even between Firefox and Chrome) plus online and mobile access to bookmarks, so will try it. Maybe that would help.
I've never heard of EverSync but I recommend Xmark.

The browser itself only uses a couple hundred megs on a clean startup without any open web pages. I use session restore so all the tabs from my last session are brought back, but the individual web pages do not get reloaded until they are clicked on (deferred tab loading enabled), however there is some per-tab overhead in the browser's startup memory footprint.

I just closed the browser and restarted it, it has 114 tabs at the moment, and on a fresh startup the last open page reloads and my memory consumption for Firefox with my zillion extensions (only some of which are listed above) is 440MB, pretty good all things considered. For Chrome it is very difficult to measure memory usage in any meaningful manner since it splits itself into several processes and they share memory as well, so it's hard to make a proper comparison with other browsers. Not sure about IE because well... who uses IE? :)

Thanks for the info, I'll look into FF later this week. :)
I'll give it a try, because I'm getting tired of the old ie. (nah, just kidding, ie is my favorite)

edit: I'm puzzled by the search results. How do I install this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O6NRLYUThrY

...and those are but a few? Me, I had problems at around 20 addons and had to cut them down by half or so.
Since you are using Ghostery have you noticed any problems when you open Options window. I'm getting blank tabs on that window if ghostery is on, no problem when disabled.
Also are Ghostery and Disconnect both aim to stopping trackers? I want to replace the former since I get the problem I mentioned and I'm looking for something similar or better if there is around.

I've got about 50 installed and about 40-45 currently enabled. No conflicts between any of them that I'm aware of or notice at the moment. No problems with Ghostery, it's possible it conflicts with another extension you are running perhaps though. Yeah, there is overlap between the two you mention, and some of the others as well in terms of functionality. :)

Oh look, ScotchMonkey's bringing out the big guns!

Megashark almost had special effects. Samuri Cop was hilarious and Robot Jox had a chainsaw penis! Your standards are too friggin' high if you think that any of those compare to Birdemic, which had none of those things.

You clearly never saw DARK DESCENT: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0271451/
Best movie ever for a good laugh with friends. It's as hilariously bad as it gets. This is REAL trash, instead of stuff made on purpose like Troma movies or Sharknado, which is even better because it was meant to be half-decent.

Highlights of the movie for me are the chemical analyser being a CD-Rom tray poorly disguised with some lights on it, the blatantly fake rocks made of paper, a jet of hi-pressured water tearing a hole into the body of a man, the CGI that makes PS1 FMV look like Industrial Light & Magic, the brilliant dialogue that highlights the poor budget ("Murdock, you can't do that, you are just TWO and they are THREE"..."i can't do this, i'm sorry"..."Oh no, now you are alone vs THREE of them", which is even more hilarious considering i saw Chronicles of Riddick just the day before this, with Riddick single-handedly mowing dozens of people).
Greatest bad movie ever.
I liked it, seems a lot promising! =D
