Nobody calls it “Fronleichnam” anymore in Germany, though. You say that, particularly the younger generation, won't even know what you mean. Ever since English became more popular, the majority of Germans roll with the English translation of the holiday: “Happy Cadaver”.

I will say, a “Happy Cadaver Sale” might be a great opportunity for more FPS shooters.

That's simply not true.

And it's double untrue, since the English "Fronleichnam" is "Corpus Christi Day".

"Happy Cadaver Day" is a made-up name. A mockery.
I heard it for the first time in 1992, from a captain in the BW who wanted to be funny.

I would absolutely not have used sarcasm in that post ever. Particularly, me being German and all.

Keep in mind, though, that the German language is full of mockery and intentional misspellings. Half the country has Slavic roots. With some more parts Danish, others Swedish, or Frisian. We have five official languages, including multi-lingual street signs. We even got Turkish words adopted with intentional wrong translations into traditional German proverbs.

"Rubbel die Katz!" AKA "Rub the pussy", meaning "hurry up", is a misspelling of the word "Kasse" (cash). What it means to say is "check your cash (and close the deal)". Except, somebody found the mistranslation amusing, and it stuck.

"Schmetterling", is an intentional misspelling of the Slavic Směšná, meaning "butter". It has nothing to do with the German word "schmettern" (to bash), except that it sounds similar.

Or what about the mountain called "Nacktarsch" (literally "naked arse")? Once more, an intentional misspelling.

There is a town literally named "Lederhosen", once again a mockery of a Slavic name Ludorazhusen.

Germans are funny--anywhere outside of Hamburg.

Except… maybe not take my word for it. I once convinced a tourist to India, that the Royal Court Diwan-i-Aam in the Red Fort in Delhi was an elephant garage, and the throne was the ticket booth. They were certain I was telling the truth because I'm German, and, according to legend, Germans never joke.

So, if you ever hear stories of a mysterious ancient Haathi Garage in a castle in Delhi, I do apologize.

Yep, that's right.

I've heard Zombie Jesus in Canada more frequently than I did back in Germany, though. That includes various plays on “the king is dead, long life the king” as in “Jesus is dead but Zombie Jesus lives!”
