AnimalMother117: Because I can't think of a better place to mention it: I recently played the Code Name S.T.E.A.M. demo, I thought it would be just okay. However, I found it to be really fun, the controls on the 3DS worked really well.
Since you mentioned it, I'll be sure to try the demo sometime (been meaning to since they announced it). Although the graphical look they've got going on for the game is...kinda ugly. =/

It's actually quite a beautiful game. Maybe you need to see it in motion?

EDIT: what's up with my avatar...

Pretty much my experience, I thought it looked really rough in trailers and I actually downloaded the demo on a whim. However, once I started playing I was thoroughly impressed with the graphics, the music was also really good.

P1na: BTW, probably because of the 100+ hours I've put on both VC2 and VC3, when replaying VC1 I gave up pretty fast. It was just way too easy to be interesting. I guess I'll keep slowly playing it, but I don't really have much of an interest on playing that right now.
I think the difficulty of the game is just right (for me anyway) when you play it for the first time. But it often relies on surprise, and it is VERY easy to exploit when you replay it, or if you savescum.
I immensely enjoyed the game, because I ignored the rankings and avoided all exploity things (like reloading or restarting after a nasty surprise, scoutrushing and the like). But now, I don't think I would really enjoy replaying it, since the surprise is gone and I know how to cheese many levels.

Typical example : The battle with the 2 mortar tanks that counterattack after you take an enemy base. I did it on the first try, and it was a 12 turns long difficult battle where I had to adapt to a situation I was completely unprepared for, had to evacuate half a dozen wounded, and where Rosie heroically held the southern trench and shot down maybe 30 imperials with her defensive fire while most of my army was trying to get to the northern tank or to defend the camp against the snipers. I got a miserable D-rank, and it was awesome. But now? I know I could cheese it on turn 3 or 4. I could avoid exploiting what I know, sure, but the magic is gone, so I don't think I'd enjoy replaying it.

So the replayability is weak, unless you are chasing for the integrated medals/achievements. But the first playthrough was 30-40 hours of pure awesomeness. And I still have the DLCs to play (although I will probably enjoy them less, since they're lighter in "story" content. But the tactical "first time" challenge will be there)
I didn't enjoy it on PS3 for all of it's tactical inconsistencies. I was annoyed they couldn't just do normal, good turn based military combat with a great looking engine properly.

Yup, you're probably right. I remember having a ton of fun when I played it years ago, but replaying it isn't doing it for me. Oh well, at least I still have the DLCs left.

The PSP ones are more replayable, in the bad sense of not having defined, scripted missions and having to play on the same scenarios over and over anyway. I'd love for the next VC to combine both: A great (somewhat scripted) campaign, and randomized skirmishes on the PSP vein.

Seriously? I bought this game in last summer sale believing that the combat system would be like XCOM Unknown but is it like The Bureau XCOM (the only one UFO + XCOM I don't like)?

When I saw the combat videos in Youtube they seems like turn based combat (with reaction) not real time combat (slowed).
It's not like The Bureau, it is still turn based but during the time that you activated one of the characters you can take enemy fire, in xcom you only take it if the enemy was in overwatch mode and you appeared in their line of sight.

OK. I thought that this were reactions. I underestand now. It is like a reaction but unlimited.

It is ok as it is not real time like The Bureau.

Thank you.
