WinterSnowfall: I don't think any involvement from Ubisoft is necessary to enable cloud saves, so I doubt it.
karnak1: You're probably right.
Still it's funny why they only choose these games when they could also as well have made it available for the "Anno", "Settlers" , "Rayman" or "PoP" games. Maybe they'll update them next?
edit:
My only personal reasoning for them to make such a move would be that - in case they launched more games from the series - such games would be required to have could-saving. And it'd be a bit strange for a Far Cry 3 or an AC2 to have cloud saves and the previous games not.
But, WinterSnowfall is likely right and it's all just daydreaming.
I've said many time that I think Ubisoft abandoned GOG. Since their games started being bound to Uplay, that reinforced my conviction. Also, there are still games that don't require Uplay, like Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory, and for some reason never made it here.
The someone pointed out to me that the Brothers in Arms series were released on GOG in the beginning of 2019. However, iirc, a few months later, it was announced that Ubisoft entered a long-term deal with Epic, and so they started selling their games only through Uplay and EGS. No more Steam, nor 3rd party key sellers (not counting Stadia). One can argue that that only applies to newer games, but maybe that was a clause that prohibits Ubi from putting games elsewhere. If that's the case, then only after that deal expires we'll know.
