dudalb: Gabrilel Knight is a jerk in the first geme..so much so that it becomes a running joke..as in the "Gabriel Knight is a lout...excuse me, it out" joke in the first secne of the game.
Grace Nakimura is a much bigger jerk in GK2, which is a shame since I loved her in the first one.
Tidus in Final Fantasy X. My God was he obnoxious, specially early on. There was some character growth towards the end but too little, too late.
Not to mention there's this dreadful "laughing scene" which is just painful to watch.

Leroux: Yeah, just imagine the shitstorm that would happen if there was a female character as timid as Maxine Caulfield, as nerdy, sarcastic and socially awkward as Rosangela Blackwell, as addicted to cigarettes as her aunt Lauren, as mentally disturbed as Edna or Fran Bow, as goofy and dishevelled as Laverne, or a "spoiled and lazy brat with boy-friend/bonding issues" like Zoë Maya Castillo ... ;)
Never heard about any of them but Zoe and "Spoiled, Lazy and Entitled" is still politically correct, so not really comparable with the traits I mentioned imho.

HafenkaeseLP: Funny, a year ago I was thinking what an adventure protagonist designed by myself would be like: in the end it was a female protagonist inspired by - Larry, Rufus and Simon xD. But Guybrush and especially Duke are also great influences, thanks for your inspiration.
Sounds fun.

Spoiled, lazy and entitled is better than egocentric?

EDIT: And you don't know Laverne from Day of the Tentacle?

I am gonna get a lot of hate for this one but... the stuffed unicorn from the witcher 3. Yeah I said it! >:( I fn hate that thing so damn much. It plays major roles in the game and has so damn much screen time it's not even funny.

I still try to wrap my head around modern values myself.

Oh, of course. Forgot about that one.

I think which one's worse would depend on actual actions. Which character is doing more harm to others?
The blonde character in Resonance was so unlikable I uninstalled the game.
I only did the frist 2 blonde guy segments in the game (blonde guy unable to find anything in his apartment/blonde guy being ultra creepy in subway car), I refused to play anymore of the game.

Looking at wikipedia summary of the plot, it was a good call.
I don't remember having played a game with an unlikeable protagonist, so I couldn't tell you.
