Well, I wouldn't be that surprised. It's the diplomats of one country talking to each other. No need for useless and meaningless words everyone hears officially. Happens all the time.

Yeah, I mentioned that earlier in the thread. It's remarkable how it's just been buried. Then Ms Nuland had the front to not comment as it was unethical to record diplomatic conversations. She also found it highly suspicious that the quality of the tap suggested that it was a senior Russian authorities that were responsible.

It's just rich and hypocritical that a US diplomat has become highly principled bearing in mind their (and the UK's) recent track record.

There is one curiosity now on Crimea at the moment. One unit of Serbian Cetniki joined the Russian forces occupying Crimea in order to support great mother Russia - their words. Serbia already distanced themselves from them and is preparing legislation to put them into prison if they return back home since this is very damaging to Serbia's process to join EU.

Great mother Russia, who did nothing to protect Yugoslavia from being torn apart. What a sad irony.

Yeah I agree with you. These people are really misguided. Was just watching their TV address from Crimea in the news on Slovenian commercial tv (POP TV). Its so surreal.

I hope that Russia will do something about those Crimean Self-Defense groups. We can't stand and just look when someone is stealing weapons, uniforms and vehicles on massive scale from other country. Because the fact that those Crimean self-defense forces have Russian military gear (even sniper rifles that are produced exclusively for Russian Specnaz), cars (with Russian license plates) and uniforms (some of them still have Russian soldiers ID labels attached to them) can't be explained in any other way than stealing (Russian officials "have no idea why Crimean self-defense groups have Russian vehicles").

But be careful Russia. Crimeans seems to be born to fight. They had only few days to prepare and they are disciplined and skilled as top-grade military units. And they learned all this while being busy stealing armored vehicles from Russia!

She appears to be a self righteous hypocrite. Condemning Putin like he is a horrible monster and then saying "I'm proud to be an American"...in a way like Americans are the good guys who would never do such evil... And very naive of her to think, RT wasn't going to make Putin look innocent if he does something like invade another country. Why would the Russian government fund RT so RT can make them look bad? She should of known better before applying for that position at RT. What a moron... OR maybe this is a clever way of getting a lot of attention?

I feel bad for everyone involved in this war. Russia still thinks they are the big kahuna and all the former Russian areas still belong to them. Even though they are now a federation. In their minds they are still communist. Communism is about expansion. They are not going to let any of these former federations slip from their grasp.

Thats one of the most disturbing aspects about this... the nightmare of faceless mercenary companies changing the way wars are fought is showing itself to be very real. The idea we could see battles in the future where all parties are anonymous, concealing identities to try and avoid responsibility.. its unreal and scary.
