Just to note, they are looking at my ticket on this currently, so will update when I know more. Must be later “updates” to windows though as I have similar setup with direct play enabled and it doesn’t work.

Anyways, what’s going on Mr GEORGE-PC eh Keith :o)

I once threw a silver dollar across the Pennsylvania Turnpike, then I said "George Washington doesn't have anything on me"! Then I told the co-workers that my great grandfather's name was George Washington Ison. They thought I was wacko and no longer believed anything that I said.
Win 10 X64 1909 no Codecs even tried forcing the old WMP9 codec with no dice, not in a compatibility mode nothing, doesn't load videos, even tried re-encoding them :(

I just went from 17xx to 1909 and of course still no in game videos from the Game Video directory. Maybe you know that Windows 10 Pro (it has to be the Pro version) has the Virtual setting. It's not a download, it's already available. All that's needed is the command line code to activate it! An internet search will tell you how.

What are you talking about?

Also I found this https://www.patches-scrolls.com/getfile.php?file=two_worlds_update_10-17b.zip&mirror=1

updates any version to 17b

This will explain what I mean

https://thebackroomtech.com/2019/03/11/how-to-enable-virtualization-in-windows-10/

ALSO: Since I'm running Two Worlds Epic edition, it's already version 1.7b. But hey, great find on the TW updates!

*I originally filed a report to Topware. Maybe they're working on a new update to fix this problem! He He He, uh yea.

problem is is it uses Windows Media codec pack 9 problem is is you can't install that pack on windows 10 pro as it bitches about the version of windows it's running

Themken: My go to solution for these kinds of problems is to remove all codec packs and install VLC player. You do not need to use it.

Is the game bundled with a video player? Old games often were. Is that one perhaps 16bits? Is so, you need to remove that and tell the video files to open with some other program. Which one is suitable depends on what kind of file format it is.

Hard for me to help more for now as I do not have this game.
Tried that didn't work!

fr33kSh0w2012:
Sometimes you can put old libraries in the game folder and get it to work that way. Not sure if that would work here.
So, latest update. Support were very helpful, however we have failed to find a solution.
I have tried every compatibility option, ticked the various checkboxes in compatibility. Run the Radeon version, also with the various compatibility options. And run both as administrator. I have also re-enabled windows media player, and set the default program to windows media player. Nothing. Uninstalled vlc player, nothing. Tried installing windows 9 codec, still nothing.
Therefore I have to conclude that videos do NOT play in Two Worlds under Windows 10 64bit. The only suggestion which may work is to play the game under Windows 7.
I don’t have further time to spend on this, so that is where I leave it.

I have Java and Visual Basic 6.1 installed.
Installed vlc.
WMP still installed but associated WMV files with VLC.
Since you deactivated WMP with no results, that's not the culprit.
Right now, the only advantage to VLC is to play DVD movies, but hey, KODI does that also.
Yep, W10 64 bit is the culprit. When I had W7 64 bit, that was OK. Has anybody tried W10 32 bit? But wouldn't that be rather silly?

Oh, by the way, TW1 is on my old Vista Business 32 bit dual core and that's ok.

An afterthought: Any Windows media player prior to W10 will not play DVD's in W10. You can get the player from the Microsoft store for W10. Wouldn't it be rather rotten if it also would work in TW1!

Time to repackage the videos then. This has already been done for a few games here. Something for GOG and the developers to work out who does what and permissions to do it.

I can do that and test you tell me what to encode them as and how to name them and i'll try it!

Not an expert on video codecs and mini-players and such. I meant that GOG, the company in Poland you know, should do it.

I do not even have the game....
