Good news! As of this day two classic games made by Mike Singleton - The Lords of Midnight and Doomdark’s Revenge - are available on GOG.COM completely free.

Enjoy those breakthrough titles that paved the road for fantasy series like King’s Bounty or Heroes of Might and Magic.

karnak1: I didn't know that a LoM3 remake was being done. If so, that's excellent news!
Can you provide a link of the subject?

Huinehtar: It is, for quite some time, because the engine devs stopped support, so it was rebuilt in a new engine.
You can have some information on the LoM blog.

And there's a bonus: the Lords of Midnight novel has been released! (still haven't yet, I don't know how it compares to the novellas included in the Citadel's box)
The freebies are actually a good reminder for me to get this novel :p
Thanks for the info.
Thank you!

I always remember myself playing this kind of games with my brothers when I was a youngster.

So, I assume these two game are part of the trilogy?
Thanks for the free games!

The novella included, is the original Midnight Chronicles that was in the box, back in the day. I only checked a few paragraphs but I gather they didn't change it. Chris Wild was very respectful to Mike Singleton and his work, rest in..
Do not expect here the new novel The Lords of Midnight.
48MB this game.. 48K the original, bit of retro-chuckle there. Although in correct numbers the original filled the full memory of the ZX Spectrum, which was actually 32K if you removed the screen data. Mike Singleton managed to barely fit the data into the machine. The code was so densely put that there wasn't even space for the loader and it had to take up part of the screen (of course it wasn't visible). There wasn't even space left to have a "saved game". Not convinced yet?.. It was so packed that there wasn't space left to even begin a new game.. You had to re-load the game again if you wanted to start again!
And it was a good game, ahead of its time..

It was a different world. Indeed. Where the optimization and limited resources were the norm and created amazing things in 48kb

In 1984 this title was revolutionary in concept. And hard to play as hell. Completely blind except the huge map in the original box if you owned it original :), no saves and a keyboard control that was a nightmare, mix of Text Adventure RPG and wargame in a huge world.
It had very good critics and was added in the list os best games ever, having 10/10 in some reviews from the magazines of the era.

The high points were a coherent epic story and the amazing open world in which you started with four heroes and your duty was to recruit allies and build an army or make the adventurous journey and defeat the enemy in a different way more spec ops.
The world was 4000 rooms or places in size. Doomdark had around 6000! It was gigantic and strategic mind and a plan was needed. The possitions and attack routes of the enemy were dynamic in each game and the freedom was something new in the era.

In the time I was obsessed with this game, It was overhelming and mysterious to me. My favourite zx spectrum game, companion with elite and tir na nog an/dun darach and the ultimate titles.

For the record I never completed tha game but it was fun load the game from a cassette and play just for the sake of playing. The PC and android port are an oportunity to enjoy the potential of the games in a more modern style and less mad/harcore way than in the past.

Greetings
Thank you, Sir/Madam Gog's :)

Does this mean we may see the 3rd Lords of Midnight game on GOG soon, Lords of Midnight: The Citadel?

This is why this website gets tons of recommendations from me :) Thank you GOG.com
Thanks to everyone involved in this games. :)
It seems both games have been removed from GOOGLE PLAY?
Hm, I have faint memories, did I play this in the 90s? Around the time of Laser Squad and others? Don't think I got very far, its not like today when I can google for game guides and tips.
Does this mean that these games won't ever go on sale again?

(Anyway, I just "bought" these two games, so they're in my account.)
