These are the errors I got.

"Playing shareware version.

ERROR-OUT BEGIN

QUAKE ERROR: W_LoadWadFile: couldn't load gfx.wad"

I was using the GOG files while following these instructions

I do believe it's because it didn't found the PAK files. In fact this happens more commonly if they are upper cased and Linux is very sensitive to it as it treats FILE1 differently than the likes of File1. If you have copied the Id1 folder into .quakespasm folder located in your Home folder change the name for the pak files.

From PAK0.PAK into pak0.pak
PAK1.PAK into pak1.pak.
I got it to work. It was going wrong because I wasn't typing in the location exactly as it showed in the properties window.

See this thread.

But how do I get it to play in 1080 in full screen? If I select 1080 in the vids option my screen goes nuts.

And how do I make the mouse faster? It seems slightly slow. It is not a lag issue. Never mind. Found mouse controls. Just need screen size adjust. Everything but 800x600 screws up.
