Emob78: Hype train hits me just as hard as it does you guys. Fallout 4 and all that other shit coming out soon has made me hornier than a sailor in a Vietnamese saloon. No worries. I'll persevere and weather the storm. But damn is it hard. We should all spend more time crying in our backlogs.
Just remember, there is always "Hand of Fate". However, I fired it up again and it's kicking my buttocks. Maybe I shouldn't have applied that patch.

hedwards: I thought you were going to say a goat.

Anyways, there's a small number of games that I'd like to play that are PS4 only, it's a shame to spend that much money on a system for so few games that I'm interested in.

JDelekto: Don't just look at the PS4 only games, that type of tunnel vision is what makes people spend beyond their means. Look for games on the platforms you already have that you haven't played, you'll probably find more than you think are out there.

But you have the right mindset, why buy a platform for only a few games you want to play? The day game consoles become disposable, they'll probably turn into cell phones. <grin>
I've got such a long backlog of games that I'm not going to be buying a new console any time soon. I miss the days when you could rent a console for a few days and waste an entire weekend playing.

I'll probably get a PS4 when I can get one off goodwill or ebay for a reasonable price. The PS3 I have does pretty much everything I need anyways.

Next step: buy a PS4 game.

Wow...

Then again, TB says he gets a lot more out of playing card games on his PS4 than any other use, so many people who haven't touched the system after they bought it, waiting for the game they really want to play on it... Kinda sad...

Then again, Sony was always weak on having games out. Hmmm... XBone isn't any better, nor the Wii-U... The whole console generation is one big pissing contest with no clear winner.
You should try Bloodborne. I also hear Infamous :Second Son is good. Other than that, you'll have to look for some exclusive indies you like if you have the subscription thing.
I always see myself disappointed about the 8th gen consoles(except Wii U) because aside from from some exclusives and the major degrading triple A releases, they just seem more and more like some household appliance for occasional CoD or BF or FIFA sessions. Basically two sequel machines.
What would be the value one gets out of a system that costs so much, is a dedicated gaming device yet fails so utterly in the one thing it is supposed to do? No discounts on games either and you have to pay for the thing to connect to an internet connection you already pay for. Was the PS3 also like this? Lacking games well after a year after release?

Hmmm not sure. Far more likely people are expecting bigger, better, more powerful, and... well... we just don't have the budgets... If the economy wasn't already down it probably wouldn't be nearly as big of a problem, but since it is...

A LOT of developers and larger companies should scale back, make PS2 or PS3 quality games, and don't go further than that. Seriously, we played 360 and PS3 games for 10 years, i'm sure we could go another 5-10 years and be just fine.

Yeah, what I now see in games is making a set of mechanics and then using the same set of mechanics in more and more complex graphics engines. Essentially, mechanical stagnation and all money being invested into graphics. Maybe due to the fact that the current hardcore audience will buy anything so the developers and publishers concentrating on winning the casuals over with graphics.

What hypocrites most 'gamers' are. We don't care about pixels/resolutions, then fanboys come from the woodworks whenever one system can't match the other for some miniscule thing, complaining about it being 2014/2015 and graphics running on HD and going 4K soon, and they won't touch the game unless it has all the bells and whistles... And yet the growth rate in money to make the games isn't linear, it's more quadratic...

I'd prefer to see good games, even if they have standard definition or PS2 graphics, and then have the models folder open so we can swap out for higher resolution ones later by fans, or by the devs if/when they get past goal points and updating becomes relevant or fun. Improve the textures on the fly, or find talented artists who don't have work and hire them for a few pieces to get their foot in the door for gaming, and then can refer them to other companies for a particular type of work. Bring me more games like ones Level-5 made! (Dark cloud, Dark cloud 2, Rouge Galaxy) games with an artistic feel that don't require visuals beyond a certain level, or like Vanillaware (Odin Sphere, Dragon's Crown, Muramasa), all very artistic. Or if you go with Sprites/pixel animations, Nippon Ichi (Disgaea, Phantom Brave).
I was going to say, and did you play the backwards compatible Ki No Kuni on it? But it turns out it's not backwards compatible.

Why the f**k would you want a PS4 again?
I will pick up a PS4 (maybe an Xbone somewhere after) in five years or so when some parents feebly attempt to reclaim some of the vast amounts of cash they have put in for the new console and games for their [sarcasm] dear sweet offspring[/sarcasm]. Generally do that with all consoles, tend to get the console and a few games for pennies then. Patience is not only a virtue but a good way of saving money,
