Isn't it nice to know that GOG rejects highly praised shooters for being too niche, while having no problem selling a pigeon themed dating sim.

No bias there, nope, none at all.

I'll defend the game, and then why it's probably here:

1) Hatoful Boyfriend is actually good and worth being here on its own merits. It's a remarkably clever game that hides a lot under its ridiculous theme, and has one hell of a mid-story twist.

2) It's published by Devolver Digital, who have a long-established relationship with GOG and access to enough titles GOG clearly wants that they can throw their weight around a little. GOG's not about to piss off the company that holds the keys to Talos Principle, Hotline Miami, Shadow Warrior and a few dozen other hot indie titles, so they'll roll over and let Devolver have its fun with wacky imports now and then to keep the marriage happy.

Basically, Devolver could easily get Mushihimesama on GOG, and Degica probably couldn't have gotten Hatoful on GOG.

I'm not calling out the game's quality. I'm saying GOG are indefensible genre snobs who only step outside the games that they personally like when they are either selling so well and hyped on other stores that they want a late slice of the pie, or, as you point out here, if the developer has them over a barrel.

Dariusburst Chronicle Saviours is apparently an excellent game.

Shame we can't buy it on GOG. :/

It's absolutely outstanding, easily my favorite PC shmup release in a year full of great ones.

Out of spite, I'm going to upvote and advertise Aviary Attorney.

Imagine if you will, Phoenix Wright+Hatoful Boyfriend, set in the 1800s.

Just to have a dissenting voice here, I'll say that it is the worst release of the year imho :) Way way behind the likes of Eschatos, Mushi, Strania... Gorgeous presentation but little depth. Would double dip if it was on GOG though :)

BTW. Folks, if you still don't have them go grab The Tale of Alltynex trilogy on Humble for 50% off, DRM-free.

So instead of trying to help with the problem of GOG's obvious bias and snobbery, you're going to be a smartass and antagonize me, on Christmas no less. Great.

I'm not even upset about the damn bird sim being here, I'm upset that GOG are goddamn, blatant hypocrites.

It's sad, that Dark Messiah of Might & Magic isn't here.
My retail copy doesn't need any online services and neither does Clive Barker's Jericho.

I'd like to play both of those...
Just noticed that the English localized version of Witch-bot Meglilo recently made it to Playism, DRM-free.

So, here it is:

I am satisfied with this outcome.

Oh good, another awesome Cave shooter that GOG can reject for no legitimate reason.
So we've got Raiden IV at least, which is nice. Just bought it.

Would still obviously like to see some of the large number of Degica and Nyu Media published shoot'em'ups that available on other digital distribution services.
Yeah,I think the forum is far too quiet.
