--Original announcement--
Piñata Madness is back – meaning excitement, mystery, and exceptional deals on some of our favorite hand-picked titles.

What is Piñata Madness?
For $3, you can buy and smash your own digital Piñata, each holding one of 100+ mystery games worth anywhere from $5.99 all the way up to $44.99.
Visit your <span class="bold">Pinata hub</span>, where can buy, open, and see everything Piñata Madness!
Just like real-life Piñatas, they'll bring you joy, surprise, and reward. Unlike real-life Piñatas, ours drop really good games instead of candy – games like Pillars of Eternity, Shadow Warrior 2, Heroes of Might and Magic, Victor Vran, and more!
It's a great way to broaden your horizons and try out games you otherwise wouldn't, knowing you're always getting a deal that's worth it. And if you already own every game included in our Piñatas, each game you drop will be a giftable code so you share the joy with your friends.

Weekly Megasale
If you'd rather know exactly you're getting, check out the Weekly Megasale featuring great deals up to -90% on some of our favorite titles including Darkest Dungeon, Shadowrun: Hong Kong, Heroes of Might and Magic III, and more!

The Piñata Madness and Weekly Megasale last until August 21, 2017, 9:59 PM UTC.
I just got a piñata with a £2 game in it. Didn't think anything in it would be worth less than the cost of the piñata?!? Admittedly tadly only by 30 odd pence but still seems a bit of a con to me. And the reviews were not great for the game either :o(

wanderer_27: Quite easy.

I bought several Pinatas yesterday Evening - one at a time over a period of several minutes - 4 of them where duplicates of games I already have on GOG.

https://www.gog.com/forum/general/pinata_tracker/page1

Is a list of the games that were available - the ones tagged (OUT ?) are games I do not have on GOG, and so I should have gotten one of those instead of the 4 duplicates I got.

This morning I ran across the post you just referenced, and thinking they had fixed things, bought another Pinata.
Another duplicate - in fact one of a game I had just gotten a refund for as being a duplicate.

So, if the Pool is effectively endless, I should have gotten one of those 41 games tagged as (OUT ?) and not a duplicate (5 in all since yesterday).

If they really aren't out of Keys, then . . .

mchack: true, I bought a few pinatas (one at a time) after reading the list of yours and seeing there was a bunch I was missing on gog. But all I got was duplicates of games I already owned (except one). Also doesn't the FAQ state Quote:

Long answer: No duplicates, unless you already own every single game available in the Piñata pool at the time of your purchase. If you already have all the games, you'll be notified before checking out and your mystery game will be converted into a giftable copy – this code will never expire.

So did you get a notification before checking out that you'll get a duplicate? because I sure didn't!
Which is exactly the kind of thing that makes this sound like a bug.

Nope, no notification.

I forgot to add that the Support person that gave me the first refund said there would only be duplicates available to me, but they were forwarding to the Tech people my issue (which is why I tried again).

Okay with spellforce 1 & 2, Capitalism 2.

I got Tyranny today, so it doesn't seem to be out or they put stocks back.
Deep Silver and GOG, thanks for Deadlight! \o/
Pinatas are not my cup of tea though (I hate gambling and sports bets).
Well, that backfired.

I assumed that since I used GOG connect to link my steam library (my main game library) to GOG the pinata sales would take these games into account as well in order to prevent duplicate games (there really is no need for me to have a game available in steam AND gog). At least last time I was able to buy the pinatas as gifts so one could trade if you owned it on another service already, but this time it simply added saints row the third to my library on GOG.

Meh, $3 lesson learned, gonna stay away from future mystery sales.

Croyzers: Thanks Nicole28, that's really useful info

I've already got a refund for the 3 games that didn't work on my system. I'm hoping that for all the others who have posted in this thread saying they got games that they will never download will apply for refunds. Hopefully, they get their money back, and GOG takes a long hard look about this sale.

wanderer_27: This is the worst sale I've ever seen on GOG.

Less than a full day in and they had already exhausted the keys for over 40 games (they actually started much sooner than that).

. . . and this is running for almost two more weeks?

They should probably end it now and save everyone a headache - just don't do the Pinata, the Pool was way too shallow.
Completely agree that this pinata sale has been the worst sale ever on GOG.

I did read some of the earlier posts about GOG running out of keys, I honestly don't know if that's true - only GOG will know for sure - but that's shocking if so.

I used to really like GOG, but thay have lost a lot of my respect with this pinata sale. I guess they were trying to add a "fun" element to the sale, and they have tried various sale experiments over the years. It's obviously only been half thought through with this sale though. It's also resulted in people paying for goods (not gambling) that they don't want / can't use. Not everyone will know about refunds, so GOG have made a profit on these customers.

Apply for refund.Get your money back. This isn't a gambling website. You haven't gambled, you have bought a product. If Gog are prepared to blind sell you goods, then they must be prepared for people to return the goods you haven't used / don't need.

I applied for a refund, but I value my time at more than $3. I am not going to bother with it if they don't act or ask further questions. Sometimes you need to cut your losses, and that includes not bothering with certain sales or even sellers anymore.

Yeah, I agree with you. The money involved in one sale isn't huge. For me though , it's the principle behind this sale that stinks - which to me is worth my free time.

I never thought I would see the day that somebody would write that about GOG, and I would actually agree with them.

groze: Still, piñatas aside, there's a good sale going on if you don't feel like gambling, and I welcomed Deadlight for free, since it was on my wishlist but as my backlog is already so huge, I had been postponing buying it.
Didn't you once said that your backlog was very small because you replay most of your games many times?
Did alright, I guess. Tyranny would have been a nice pull though.

I did say that, yes. But considering I took a break from these forums for a while and in the meantime bought *a lot* of games, sadly, that no longer applies.
Lame. One pinata gave me Armikrog, which was already on sale for $2.99, meaning I saved nothing and actually paid more for the game. The other gave me Shadow Warrior 2013, which I already own on GOG.

I've asked for a refund for both and I'm hoping the support person is careful enough to avoid removing my original copy of the preorder edition of Shadow Warrior 2013 when removing the pinatas.

Not cool, GOG.

I'd be curious to hear what happens, if you're willing to post a follow-up, please.
i accidentally clicked on get deadlight free.... but it seems i already bought the game a while ago( i was curious what the game was about and got it at sales : 4.99 euros (a nice deal) .

I assume i can let the free code expire and my bought version will remain safe ?
