TARFU: Nah, GOG offers something that Steam and Epic do not, DRM-free games, be they old classics, indie, or AAA titles. There is much less to differentiate Steam and Epic. I think Epic is gunning for Steam.

MegisED: They're gonna have to come up with more than a few exclusives and a dodgy EULA to pose any sort of threat to steam, IMO.
And Steam/Valve is gonna have to come up with more than resting on their halflife/csgo/portal laurels and relying on users being fooled into wading through and buying buckets of shovelware in their storefront if they ever hope to stay competitive and fend off Epic.

Ancient-Red-Dragon: Epic Games Store already has 85 million users. The vocal people yelling for boycotts of it have clearly failed, and their intentions are not nearly so influential as their loud voices would have their audience believe.
While I doubt a boycott would work you can't really say 'Well they have 85 million now so they clearly failed', those numbers are there because of fortnite, not because of a success of the epic store. They were there before the calls for a boycott even started

It's not an Epic exclusive, it just won't show up on Steam. Outer Worlds will be released on the Microsoft store the same day as Epic.

Steamtards are yelling all over on the internet against Epic meanwhile they silently purchasing games from there .

Not to mention freeloaders because of freebies such as Subnautica, WRoEF, Slime Rancher & others... Free games are free. Paid ones are another matter.

The point is, people on the internet complaining about how evil Epic Games Store is have had absolutely zero impact on limiting its massive growth. In 5 months Epic Games Store has already acquired many, many, many times GOG's entire userbase even though GOG has been here for over 10 years.

Statements from Epic Games Store haters that Epic isn't able to compete with Steam have no basis in reality.

Guilty as charged.

Probably end up getting Outer Worlds there even though I'm salty about it. Probably also get Journey as I've heard good things.

Good point
I thought microsoft bought out Obsidian a few months ago but it looks like its being published by somebody else. I wonder if that is why its going to epic because Microsoft dosent seem to like the Epic store. At least not enough to make The MCC exlsive to it

Pheace: Good point
But then again - GOG made me their user by offering me a free NWN Diamond.

How do you know that? I'm pretty sure that out of the 85 million userbase only a very small minority ever bought a game on the Epic store. Like somebody already said: The 85 million users are only there because of Fortnite and not because of the store.
Considering that I advocated for GOG using temporary exclusives to outfox Steam, I am hoping that Epic's experiment demonstrates the merit of the idea.
