Dagnabbit! Every time I hovered the mouse over the download button, it changed to "Coming Soon", and clicking it did nothing. So hey - good sleuthing and +1 to you!

Sent a pm to tfishell a few hours earlier than your post on it, so I had the link handy. Found it a couple of months ago while I was looking for commercially released games that are now freeware.
LOL - well, thanks for correcting me anyway. Really great DOS-era game.

And sheesh, how could I have forgotten the open-source remake of Warzone 2100?

tfishell: Oh yes! I forgot about this, I think it's actually hosted on DotEmu or another service.

Darvond: I'll do you one better.
Nice. Turns out it's actually on Desura. (Either the original or open-source version)

tfishell: C&C: Red Alert - EA - 6000+ wishlist votes

I'm getting lazy, so here's a Wikipedia link - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Command_%26_Conquer:_Red_Alert#Freeware_release. I'm sure people would pay 5.99 for the soundtrack, though.
C&C 1 and 2 were similarly released. As far as I know they remain available, though with EA having re-published them commercially on Origin, I doubt they'll release them for free (or even at all) on GOG. I'm counting my blessings as it is ;)
Does Mechwarrior IV count? Even though it is technically not available despite having been made free?
Mechcommander 1 and 2
Mechwarrior 4 and Mercs

they have also been made free some time ago
What about the Marathon trilogy? I think those games are worthy of being on GOG.
It's GOG's birthday-ish! Last year we got two freebies; I hope (perhaps in vain) we'll see a few highly-desired ones show up this year, too.
Hmm... Last good freeware I played was The Spirit Engine 2 (review). First one's all right too, but major improvements between the two.

Not something that'd need GOG at the moment, being fairly recent and apparently available on several mirrors with the site to centralize, but still wouldn't hurt to have those here.
Well, I wanted to bump this so I have it for future editing possibilities.
in behind this link can be see original free command and conquer games what i want add to gog free game selection

Command and Conquer Gold
Command and Conquer: Red Alert
Command and Conquer: Tiberian Sun and Firestorm
Renegade X: Black Dawn (spinnoff game in command and conquer world)

i added above text in comminyt wishlist free game topic, it's completly same tex form that topic, except link:
More free games / freeware (like Beneath a Steel Sky, Tyrian 2000, Ultima 4, etc.)

because i really want to those games in here for free collection!
Hmm S.W.I.N.E has only 77 votes:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/S.W.I.N.E.

It is a really great and funny real-time tactics game. It was made available to download for free by its developer, StormRegion. But their official website went down years ago :(
Edit: realized this was freeware request... So I'll just second the C&C games...
