DukeNukemForever: The games are maybe by different studios, but by the same person, Ragnar Tornquist. The sad thing about it is that the Longest Journey Home could have been the game we are looking for. Dreamfall, including the Chapters, was more focused on a new character Zoe and her story. Especially Dreamfall you see that Tornquist was trying new things to gain new experiences in game production and storytelling - different storylines, new characters, new gameplay elements, new controls and so on. The Longest Journey Home although was announced to be a more classical game and go on with Aprils story, closing her missing story gaps. It should have been a more true successor to the original Longest Journey. I enjoyed Dreamfall, but like you and others I was more interested in Aprils and the original story and so more hoping to see a release of Home than of the Chapters. I did not finished the Chapters yet, but after reading many people are unhappy with the ending I'm not sure if I really should hope for a release of Home. But on the other hand, if it's really focuses on the original story, it maybe can make the new story elements of Dreamfall and Chapters forgettable.
Oh, I see The Longest Journey Home is actually an (somewhat) announced title. I still have a hard time beign optimistic for it, my problem with Dreamfall wasn't that they tried new things, it was just the massive dip in quality both in writing and gameplay. I think tracking back to traditional poin'n'click is a good idea, but I'm skeptical they'll ever manage to write something like The Longest Journey again.

It was one of the, unfortunately unreached, stretch goals of the kickstarter campaign. They wanted to do it if the campaign would have reached 2 millions dollar. After that didn't happened, they said they will maybe try to finance it another way, but it will take much more time and will be after the Chapters are finished.

About Dreamfall Chapters: Need to play it to see how good or worse the writing is, but after playing some of the early Telltale episodic games and the first episode of Chapters I guess they completely misjudged that writing an episodic series with many little stories or one big one split in little parts is another thing than writing and working on one main story for one game. Just my guess without knowing any details about how well the story of the chapters was already done ahead or how much was rewritten while in production.
