JudasIscariot: Darkest Dungeon is now available for penguins so no more Wine :D
Nice. Removed from the list.

rampancy: ...soooo, anyone tried Bloodlines yet?
avatar
shmerl: Yes, see the announcement thread.
Care to post that info in here?

Basically it just works :) I'm playing Bloodlines now in Wine 1.9.8 (from POL) without any special settings. It even works without any native overrides, but I noticed a slight flickering in cutscenes. Using native d3dx9_36 removes it.

Run the game with these arguments:

-game Unofficial_Patch -console

to enable Wesp5's patch and in-game console (the later is useful for example for changing field of view and workaround of rare bugs, like missing fists which can happen on occasion). I usually also install patch+, but it's optional.

UPDATE:

System: Debian testing x86_64, kernel 4.5.0-1.
GPU: Nvidia GTX 680 (closed driver 361.42).

Cheers. With and some system info, e.g. ($ inxi -SG):

JudasIscariot: Antergos Linux
Kernel: 4.4.3-1-ARCH x86_64 (64 bit)
Card: NVIDIA GF110 [GeForce GTX 560 Ti 448 Cores]
GLX Renderer: GeForce GTX 560 Ti/PCIe/SSE2 GLX Version: 4.5.0 NVIDIA 361.28
It would be perfect. (perfect) I also thought there was something with anisotropic, but I see that doesn't seem to work anymore.

I updated my previous post with some specs. Yes, in the past forcing anisotropic filtering improved Bloodlines quite a lot, but now it has no effect anymore.
Game: Total Annihilation Commander Pack
Installer MD5: 0328c16e7bd74dd3cb9229977a11e9d7 setup_total_annihilation_commander_pack_2.0.0.21.exe
WineHQ AppDB link: https://appdb.winehq.org/objectManager.php?sClass=application&iId=155
CodeWeavers link: https://www.codeweavers.com/compatibility/crossover/total-annihilation

Distro: Linux Mint 17.3 Cinnamon 64bit
Kernel version: 3.19.0-58
Graphics card: Nvidia GeForce GTX 750Ti
Graphics driver & version: Proprietary 364.19
Wine version(s) tested: Wine Staging 1.9.8 via PlayOnLinux, CrossOver 15.1.0

Install notes: Just install & play. According to WineHQ's AppDB this needs directplay for multiplayer but I did not test that.
If using PlayOnLinux, run the game from/create a shortcut for "TotalA.exe"
How well does it run: Perfect
Details: Played for a short while, encountered no issues. Complains about DirectX version on startup but otherwise appears to work perfectly. Tested with virtual desktop enabled.

Do you happen to know what other system components are installed in the Vampire: Bloodlines installer?

On WINE I've noticed that with several games (notably EU3/HOI3/EUR, among others) the installer tends to hang with WINE 1.9.x. On the latter three games it seems to happen when the installer tries to install .NET framework. Things work fine after I force quit the installer and install .NET on my own.

I've seen the Bloodlines installer also hang in a similar fashion, so I'm wondering if something similar is happening with that game too.

While the installer is hung run in Terminal:
ps ajx
kill PID
Activity Monitor would no doubt work too. ;)

IIRC, SotS installer attempted to force install .NET 2.5 & .NET 3. Killing those processes allowed the installer to finish with it's "normal" GOG errors, or just do what you are already doing. Do any of these installers behave differently in Wine 1.7.xx?

I've seen directx_Jun2010_redist.exe in the innoextracted installer package.

Thanks! Updated post #3, earlier actually. I lied about the perfect. E.G. format. Basically game name, system specs, installer hash if available and then the post, what you already have. Like I said though already linked.

I said before, such reports belong in Wine AppDB, so if I'll go that level of detail, I'll do it there ;)

Installer did hang for me as well though, but not permanently. It just doesn't show the progress, but it works in background being stuck on the first installer screen, and eventually succeeds.

Yes, I've indeed seen this behaviour with SotS as well as SotS: The Pit. I honestly don't remember if this was the case in 1.7.xx; I'll test it out later when I get home.

Yeah, I left it going in the morning, and when I came back home from work in the evening it got to the "Finished Installing" screen...

It doesn't take that long for me. May be a bit longer than you'd expect from installer of such size. But I have a powerful CPU on the other hand. I suspect it's some mess related to .NET.

Game: Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines

Distro: Mac OS X El Capitain 10.11.4
Kernel version: Darwin 15.4.0 (Build 15E65)
Graphics card: Intel HD Graphics 5000
Graphics driver & version: OS Default
Wine version(s) tested: wine-staging 1.9.8 via Wineskin
Install notes: The installer may take a little longer than expected, so if it appears to hang, be patient and let the installer finish on its own.

How well does it run: Almost perfectly (So far)
Details: Tested in fullscreen 1366 x 768 (with both unofficial patch and vanilla exes), with all graphical options set to max. Everything seems to work as expected, including music, ambient sounds, and saving/loading games. The intro cutscenes also do not play correctly; there is audio, but the screen is black. (At least on my configuration; igrok has reported working intro cutscenes with his setup.) Mods have not yet been tested.

As per instructions on the AppDB and reddit, I also set offscreenrenderingmode=fbo, and UseGLSL=disable in winetricks. (Unnecessary in Linux, as per shmerl.)

To start the game using the unofficial patch, use the exe flag: -game Unofficial_Patch

May be it's OS X specific issue, but on Linux you don't need that.
