Silence means not having to hear people noise. And by people noise I mean the horrible noise people actually make if you just listen for a bit. I'm not sure if I'm just hypersensitive to it but the constant bumping into things, yelling, speaking loud just for the sake of loud speaking, yelling into the phone etc. etc. just makes me uncomfortable and silence is actually very calming. Either silence or music. But not hearing any people noise can sometimes be the best thing ever to me lol :D.

...come to think of it, maybe it's not me saying it that keeps making it break...
For me, silence is a way to escape from the world. Perhaps more importantly, it's a way to be alone with my thoughts. Please count me in. Thank you. +1
Not in, (thank you) but replying to a thoughtful post.

Everyone has the right to remain silent, it's just that some people lack the ability.

For me silence equals peace and quiet. No neighbours having trees trimmed by chainsaws, new kitchens fitted using stone cutter grinding wheels, no dogs barking, no pool parties. If I had to have some affliction, I could cope with deafness.

I do realise that for some reading this it could be much worse, at least I have no bombs dropping, or drive by shootings.
On balance, I think things aren't so bad.

Though I often think about living somewhere remote, I'd miss the internet speed.
Nice poem.

Moments of silence are very important for me. They are moments of contemplation. I appreciate that form of prayer. It must have been hard for children.

We have too many distractions in our daily life. In public transportation I see so many people's attention being sucked in by their cell phones, that is kind of scary. They seem afraid of being bored, of being alone with themselves, with their thoughts, with their feelings. I imagine that breeds some insecurity that we try to fill in by consuming stuff we don't need. We focus on "having" rather than on "being".

Silence in a group can also be a powerful thing, you have that right. Instead of just "being", we are all "being together". It says "I'm glad of just being here with you". However, the problem is that silence can, some times, be misinterpreted.

Personally, I really need my time of silence, reflection and contemplation. My moment alone, with my thoughts and my feelings. Going to the mass was never a pleasant experience, since it was always the same thing, over and over. It looked scripted and phony. I think I like what you describe better. Quaker's take on religion seems quite interesting. At least from a first superficial look.

Regarding the giveaway, I'm in if I may. What? The game Slicence does not come with the soundtrack included? :-P I wonder if the music was composed by,John Cage... :-D
