idbeholdME: Nostalgia milking at its finest. But it keeps selling, so can't really blame the corpos here. Don't forget the $40 minimum price tag.
1994 - Elder Scrolls 1: Arena
1996 - Elder Scrolls 2: Daggerfall
2002 - Elder Scrolls 3: Morrowind
2006 - Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion
2011 - Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrim

Due 2016 - Elder Scrolls 6
Due 2021 - Elder Scrolls 7
Due 2026 - Elder Scrolls 8

Morons who keep rebuying the same game over & over are precisely why we don't have new Elder Scrolls games since 2011. I would have loved to seen one set in Valenwood at least this side of 2030, but nope, gotta flog that remakeitus bandwagon to death first...

In best case scenario this Remaster turns out to be the best version of Oblivion, if it is true that the Creation Engine is still running in the background, thus making it moddable, but I'm still not happy, that I will buy this game for the third time. Not to mention it won't release on GOG, maybe some years after launch, but I highly doubt they will shadowdrop it on every platform. Maybe Steam and Gamepass + Xbox, but likely nothing else.

I would love to see a modern take on TES, where they FINALLY fully realize their abandoned ideas, which is partially still accessible by modders. Hope they just drop the procedural generation and level scaling, because that is the weakest part of almost every game they made.

UE5 are also moddable? That very much just depends on how the developers set up the game.

Due? They never promised anything, or at least I don't remember it if they did.
For sure I'm not going to defend people who keep rebuying the same game every time a new console comes out aka "Skyrim", but in this case we're talking about a 2006 game and this is more of a remaster, maybe even a remake.
Plus, the studio working on it isn't Bethesda Game Studios; that doesn't change anything, it's outsourced work.
If you make up an imaginary release schedule for every development studios, you're going to be seriously disappointed.

The reasons we haven't had TES 6 are called Fallout 76 and Starfield.

Devyatovskiy: Hopefully the remaster addresses some graphical issues of the original. They could probably use about a million percent less bloom on everything. Make character faces less horridly ugly and shiny. Maybe tweak the inventory system since that was a mess.

Looking forward to checking this out. Never gotten around to completing the Oblivion back in the day.
Yeah, the bloom thing got way out of hand. I also don't see why peoples skin is so shiny it looks liks they've bathed in oil. Facial models aren't much better today, consider the two basic face options you get in Solasta, one of which looks much like it's taken from Oblivion in terms of brickiness. Admittedly, after replaying NWN I noticed that I didn't remember the blockiness it has either, so maybe it's a matter of comparing Witcher to these ancient titles.

Also up for consideration: if the remaster comes out, will they pull the original as they increasingly tend to do? I got the DVD version but am considering to repurchase here because of the GOG release contains the updates and extensions but don't know if it's truly worth it?

Honestly, I don't think they'll delist Oblivion . They know the hype for "Skyblivion" is high even with the probably remaster, and since it requires both Oblivion and Skyrim SE, it allows them to sell even more copies of the game.

If there had been few differences between the two games like Skyrim Legendary and SE, okay, but here, no,
they have no reason to delist Oblivion 'Classic'. But...better safe than sorry.
The general low iq, veiled hateposting against bethesda and the smell of rotten obsidian is funny when the Skyblivion team themselves are hyped over this and already gave a official statement today killing all hater baits over "reee bethesda is bad" of late thanks to certain youtubers and obsidian fallout fans.
The funniest part of the last posting is that the poster accuses others of low IQ when his post basically says: this product is great because the company itself and the usual useless YouTube leeches that like EVERYTHING advertise it. That literally happends with every product ever.
very exciting :)

That's not what that post says about youtubers though, literally the opposite.
OK then I dont understand that slang he used. *shrug*
I'm a little late joining the party here, but PC Gamer at least is convinced that the remaster is real, to the point where they wrote an article about it saying so.
Finally we got an official announcement by Bethesda! The game will be revealed tomorrow 22.04 - 11AM ET / 8AM PT / 4PM BST

Nice ! I’m excited to see the changes they’ve made to the combat system.

I thought this was an elaborate hoax, but I'm eating crow on this one.

Day 1 buy for me.
