The "C-RPG Book" is some sort of encyclopedia on history of RPG's (and derivatives) on our dear computers. The book will be a bible like the "guide to classical graphic adventures" was to point 'n' clicks.

EDIT: the free 300 pages preview is now up to read/download:

Ah, a new release, nice. Felipe is the editor, not the author, though. The writing is a community / crowdsourced effort, with some nice touches - Chris Avellone wrote about Wasteland, Tim Cain about Star Control II, Whalenought Studio about Darklands (they're doing Serpent in the Staglands, which is primarily inspired by Darklands), etc. Of course, you don't need to be famous or a developer or both to write a review - check the list and see if there's something still not assigned. I just saw Sacred is still open, and there are probably reviews on GOG that would be acceptable.
Cool stuff... +1

Followed the links to the editor's page and the links to his Gamasutra articles... enjoying the read.

Amnesiac Heroes
The Ministry of Hype

There's folks around here that care about preservation much more than me, hope they see this...
That actually looks great - I'll have to seriously consider buying the print version.
Coffee table book form?
Could be a nice book, if it turns out decent I'd definitely like a hard cover version.
I especially love the 'Contribuitors' section.

Thanks for posting this here catpower1980, I tried to create a thread about the project some time ago, but GOG's forum wouldn't let me start a thread. :P

If anyone is willing to help to the project, we're needing contributors to review some old classics! :)

Most likely the anti-spam measures got you. If you have low rep (less than 7 I think) you cannot post links. There isn't any information about it though, and the thread creation just fails. Usual advice is to remove the http:// part of the link, it should then work.

Hum, that explains a lot, thanks Jmich!
Very nice, I'm going to bookmark the site as this looks like a very interesting and wonderful read!

Maybe post a couple of those? If they are in GOG maybe use their specific fora.

Another idea, which I considered mailing you. In late eighties, early nineties there was a monthly Spanish magazine called Micromania (well it kept going, but I also was going places by then). There was a guy who specialized in RPGs going by the pseudonym ferhergon who wrote a column and I think did reviews as well. He might be an interesting contact for you. Heard of him?

I don't have a lot of free time this week-end but it would be a good idea to do a cross-checking between assigned/unassigned reviews for the books:
https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1t-49SyrsdP0M5re68sDH9cB2MrPqVKwQQiFF_54VibI/edit?pli=1#gid=0
and crossing it with GOG RPG's list:
http://www.gog.com/games/role-playing##sort=title&page=1

=> for game titles which haven't been reviewed or assigned yet, put a thread in the appropriate game's forum asking for reviewers.

So if anyone's up for this task....

Yeah, I heard about this guy before, Fernando "Ferhergon" Herrera, he was like a "Spanish Scorpia" and introduced many players to RPGs in his "Maníacos de Calabozo" column.

I searched for him some time ago, found his blog but the last post is from 2013 and there's no contact information. If anyone has a tip about how to reach him, it would be much appreciated.

And you mean post which games need a review? There's a list on the book's website, but some of the most important ones I need are Wizardry VII, Might & Magic: World of Xeen, Star Trail and Ultima VII.

World Of Xeen and Star Trail aren't on GOG I think. Anyway, posted up in the forums for Wizardry 7 and Ultima 7 ;)

Huh ?

Star Trail

Xeen & friends

Anyway, can't wait to read this. Felipepepe, do you still plan to do a physical edition ? I think I recall reading something about that on the Codex some time ago.
