Bumping the thread with the 3rd part of the "RPGs that brought something new to the table"

http://gamasutra.com/blogs/FelipePepe/20150828/250308/CRPG_History_Abridged_III__The_revenge_of_more_RPGs_that_brought_something_new_to_the_table.php
I'll surely get it when I return home :)

EDIT Ah, it's just the article.

Another good article. I'm going to look up that NWN2 module when I get a chance (I had been playing the main campaign a while back but I think I'm okay with leaving it unfinished...).
Does anyone know if there is any active effort to find reviewers here in GOG?
Screw GOG forum and its inability to edit titles of threads....

Anyway, just a heads-up as Felipe has done a BIG update on the project with release of a 300 pages preview of the book in PDF format. You can download/read it here:

Nice topic. Thanks +1
It's a pity Kindle sucks when it comes to PDFs, especially large ones with pictures but this will be a great read!
Nice to see another update.

Just quickly flipping through - page 21 caught my eye for some reason. Something looks 'off' on that page...

Hmmm, page 31 - same thing..

Maybe they're placeholders..

I have no idea what you're talking about. This all seems perfectly legit info. Hell, my grandpa even still has his Microsoft Playstation 3 that he got upon its release in '77!

was reading a bit of the 300 page preview. nice review on Eschalon: Book I. apparently stealth is well implemented in it, so it's practical to create a ninja assassin? not sure if i'll have time to play it by end of next year if i'm clearing my backlog of games this slowly.

"Another oddity in Eschalon is fighting in the
dark. With a little skill training and using the correct spells/potions it’s easy to make the darkness work for
you and become the proverbial ninja; raining deadly
blows upon the monsters from the shadows. It’s fun,
but it feels like cheating the system."

as for the review of Gorky 17, i doubt most people can clear the game in 15 hours. they'll need to be crazy good at games like X-Com or JA to achieve that. i was barely able to beat one of the bosses because i didn't put any points into counter-attack. and there's the optional invisible monster fight which i was never able to beat.

Great! I tried a random page and it was World of Xeen! Read it and it was very informative.

I'll put that on my kindle, for sure.

only page 173 is the correct timeline. the other timelines are hilarious mash-ups.
