Thoogah: For example Steam changed their refund policy made it a bit more consumer friendly, added a platform connect for limited titles only because of GOG. Before GOG there wasn't even talk of it. This is the result of GOG and Steam competing because GOG offered better service on the same titles released on both platforms and people responded to that.
Wut?

Facepalm time again! Yay!
Read Dead 2 might actually be getting a PC release!

... as an Epic exclusive. BIG grain of salt rumor, but if it turns out to be true, it'll be one of the longest gestating game trolls ever. For those who don't know, PC gamers have been waiting for a Read Dead PC release since the first game (almost 10 years ago).

If the leak is true, it says no Steam release, EVER. If that's true, then perhaps... just maybe gog can work out a deal with Take Two for a gog release some time down the road. But yeah, probably a long way off... if ever. I wouldn't hold my breath.
I just wish they would fix their storefront, its just one long ass scroll with zero sorting, getting longer daily as more titles are listed. Ive gotten several good free games (2 on my wishlist here) already and saw another 50 dollar game on sale for 10 bucks which I tried to buy but had problems at check out.

its another store front, not the apocalypse. ill grab the freebies like i do on twitch (already gotten over 50 free games there) and buy any exclusive titles that i want there, but like steam and origin etc. only rarely as my go to store is gog. if i really love the games there i will rebuy here on gog for permanence.

btw, i dont own or ever played fortnite. average game consumer here

Although here it's not just one year but all the years.
I couldn't care less in any case. Anything that's riddled with (pay-to-win) microtransactions gets an automatic hard pass from me. Rockstar, Take Two/2K and Strauss "Satan" Zelnick can fuck right off.

Meh, that's if you're interested in it for the multiplayer I guess. I wouldn't mind playing it for the single player

I guess worst case I dust off my PS4 Pro and actually get the game secondhand and resell it after. Hadn't bothered yet because gun controls were said to be pretty bad.

More of a "by association" thing for me. The stain of the microtransactions-riddled multiplayer-portion bleeding through to the singleplayer-portion and tainting it as well, if that makes any sense(?).
Plus the Epic-exclusivity, of course.
well looter shooters and battle royales are going down in popularity, epics fortnite money will only carry them so far, im sick of seeing microtransactions in every damn game i play some games dnt even warrant having in game transactions but they do anyways. like im a big fan of blizzard and warcraft but alot of there games have microtransactions

wow - has the token you can get 30 days gametime or gold so its not like its a pure cosmetic transaction

hearthstone - the P2W game of blizzard if you want to rank up high or play decently you have to buy packs which are about £45 if you wanna pre purchase them or £70 for a megabundle fuck off id never spend £70 on a card game or any in game transaction.

heroes of the storm - they used to have chests and gems you could buy but i think they removed those recently cos the game is just a massive fail MOBA anyway when DOTA 2 and LOL still and always will retain the MOBA playerbase

Diablo - well from blizzcon 2018 they announced there partnering with netease for diablo immortal, probably a F2P diablo game with micro transactions where u can buy legendarys or soulstones of the store for x price who knows the games not out yet.

starcraft 2 - this game has stupid announcer packs ,warchests etc and the announcers are like £5.99 each, they also sell campaign missions and stuff which you could call DLC, but the only cosmetic thing is the announcers

Overwatch - overwatch is a really fun game and u can earn lootboxes quite easily and you can also save up coins to buy the skins. the problem is that theres no decent way to actually farm coins when special skins cost 3000 coins, legendary dupes in lootboxes give 200 coins which is nothing and theres no game mode or bonus credits after battles which makes people wanna buy lootboxes, 50 lootboxes is £34.99 then the really bad part is the overwatch league skins for 2600 tokens thats £87.49 theres like 30 heroes in overwatch now so another 400 tokens on that is £16.99 so thats close to £110 per team for every heroes league skin and theres 21 teams so 21 x £110 is alot of fucking money!

destiny 2 - destiny 2 is fun in its own little way and you can buy silver for cosmetic crap end of overpriced for what it is

COD black ops 4 - this game is just littered with microtransactions unlike overwatch credits which you can earn in game, you cannot earn cod points in black ops 4 you have to buy them for rediculous prices, fuck off bobby kotick greedy cunt burn i nhell
I've really only got two concerns about Epic.

1. How might they negatively impact GOG? I am a suspicious bugger.

2. Will I ever get to play the free games I got from Epic before they go belly up etc?

But not really over-concerned about that last one ... they were free after all, and while free come with less than pleasing elements to play and keep playing. I haven't even bothered to install them.

GOG has given me more than enough great games to go on with.

One could even posit - Why did you bother with the freebies from Epic then?
I guess my only answer, is that they were free and you never know what the future might bring.

Pretty much the same reason I get freebies from Steam, except the GOG Connect benefit is there and has paid off a couple of times.

All the games I have at Steam or Epic etc, I really want at GOG. I am even prepared to pay somewhat for them at GOG, even though I have them free elsewhere. I have almost replaced all my discs at GOG after all, and so that isn't really that different.

But who knows, I might install the Epic Installer one day, just so I can say I did, and try a game or three.

At first glance - not at all.
Apart from Phoenix Point, the titles held hostage by Tim Sweeney weren't going to be on GoG day-one anyway.

Swedrami: At first glance - not at all.
That's what I am worried about.
I am a very suspicious bloke.
I am sure none of the other stores like GOG.
And are capable of trying any sneaky method to get rid of them.
So if nothing is obvious about some new change, then what's not obvious?

That GOG has lasted as long as it has, seems quite a miracle to me.
Some seem to take that for granted, but I don't.

So they certainly wouldn't want to be obvious taking GOG down, as there would be way too much backlash.

Then you've not been paying attention. The loss of the fair price package is directly attributed to the need to lower the cut on games for instance, which is a direct result of Epic introducing the lower cut and competing with it.

I was aware of that.
I just don't necessarily see that having that much of an impact than losing out on big title XYZ. Which, like I said would have been the case for a day one-DRM-free GoG release anyway.
Steam's the one that's really hurting here.
