Dalthnock: I WAS going to buy quite a few games during the Christmas sale, but after witnessing you kneeling down in front of China, my money is now safe.
Not even at 90% discount, you're getting a penny from me.
The worse isn't even censoring Devotion. It's THE LIES! "Gamers" complained? Go fuck yourselves.
You give no respect, you deserve no respect.

Chinese Gamers
Chinese Gamers, tens of millions of gamers, that will loose access to Cyberpunk (or at very best updates for it) if CDPR are banned from China.
There's more to this than just money

While your point is taken, many simply wish to express themselves through boycott.
And it is possible -- especially in a luxury entertainment -- to boycott.

SuperLibby72: So at the end of the day your only hurting company's like GOG and not China. Having one gaming service go under means nothing to China. I guess we are just a buch dumb hypocrite on GOG.
I think the point is not to change China, but rather... to get a Western game company to take coercion by CCP seriously, and this is done through said Western game companies customers voicing their displeasure and making a note of their boycott.Post edited December 17, 2020 by kai2

Bowing down to the Chinese government for doing business in China is one thing. It may be ethically questionable, but it is a market reality of almost all major companies.
Subjecting all the world to the Chinese rule is something different and unnecessary. Why do games for the rest of the world get 'forbidden' just because the Chinese chairman is offended?
But the pinnacle is pretending that requests of some 'gamers' were the reason to pull this game. That is just a ridiculous lie and shows once what GOG has become. I can understand anyone who refuses to do business with GOG because of that. And no, that's not punishing GOG for doing business in China. That is something GOG has f*ed up themselves. No one forced them to lie - and so transparently at that. They could just have said that they or the publisher of the game had to pull the game due to Chinese intervention. Or due to 'political reasons'. Or 'due to disagreement with the publisher'. ... But this pretense that it was the voice of customer that led to the game not being released is just insulting.

Whenever I wanted to buy a game, I was always checking first if it was available on GOG and if it were, I was buying it here. From now on I won't buy a single game here.
Chinese government doesn't like the game? Cool, block it for customers in China, not for everyone in the world. Also stop blaming "gamers", it's insulting that you think that your customers are that dumb.

Well put. This is exactly my beef with this situation. The lie. Subjecting all the world to the Chinese rule is something different and unnecessary. Why do games for the rest of the world get 'forbidden' just because the Chinese chairman is offended?

"We're doing it because you asked us to. :) :)"
Fuck off, GOG.
