VanishedOne: Another, probably related oddity involves archive.org.URLs, where the current page instead of the archived version becomes the link target: https://web.archive.org/web/20010401145253/https://www.gog.com/

Yep, that's the one I mentioned above, if a protocol appears in a URL, it assumes it starts from there, so need to edit archive.org URLs to remove that, and it works just fine without it.
