Stars in Shadow is currently 77% off [if you get base game and DLC together]. It's my favorite 4x game -- it's the right mix between "arcade" and "deep". They promise they're working on a 2nd DLC to come out some day (it's an indie dev pair). So, hopefully, some day.
Star travel is my favorite genre, be it books, cinema, games.

So there it is, for the fourth time:

I really love it too, it was a really nice surprise. I hope they'll manage to release the 2nd DLC !

How does it compare to Master of Orion 2 which it heavily borrows from? I've been eyeing Stars in Shadow and Interstellar Space: Genesis for some time, but I always wonder if they're good enough compared to their main MoO 2 inspiration. Do they do enough to have their own identity or do they feel too much like copy-cats?

I still view MoO 2 as a class of its own that hasn't been bested even with its relatively simple diplomatic system.

Never managed to really play it, so I can't say. By the time it came to availability, it was hard for me to "move back". I think I tried it once or twice and early on got destroyed by some giant space monster or something each time.
