ChrisGamer300: Good riddance and thank you GOG, this is what you need to do with all devs like this one without them taking the first iniative.
MarkoH01: I wonder if it was GOGs decision to remove it ... we probably won't get an answer but it would be interesting to hear the answer to this. It honeslty makes me think twice about buying games from devs that haven't proven themselves first like Larian, Warhorse, Crate Entertainment, Atom team etc.

ChrisGamer300: Highly doubt it since GOG themselves say "on developers request", what i meant was that i want GOG to take a more active hand in dealing with outdated or abandoned games rather than the devs taking the iniative first and remove them since there a still a fair amount of these games lying around here right now. It honeslty makes think twice about games devs that haven't proven themselves first like Larian, Warhorse, Crate Entertainment, Atom team etc.

Just the other day I was on the Cuphead website for some reason, specifically for the DLC (The Delicious Last Course). If you look it up right now from the search button, you'll find it and that it's TBA, so we are destined to get it, but the website gives you ZERO indicators of a GOG version. Same with the RiME website. Just go to the websites of the games that get GOG releases, chances are half do not acknowledge GOG's existence even if they actively update and support the game here.
Couple this with even more fun shenanigans like Epic's existence doubling down the insistence to use steam of all the clients, and how GOG is perceived sometimes as weaker or sometimes even as a pirate site, and the result is GOG is still barely known among the mass. Now we're getting better, what's with Fallout 76 Productions releasing their games, or Squeenix actually completing Deus Ex and releasing Life is Strange, among other....stuff, indie hits, Japanese titles, etc etc etc, even Streets of Rage 4 and Shenmue III might get the buckets of bolts at SEGA to look at us even if they're not directly involved with these releases, but we're still a ways from ending Steam Gaming and turning it back into PC Gaming like it was meant to be all along.

This was a game I had wanted to play at some point down the road; it looked fun.
I'm sad the developer is being stupid about this.

Right, isn't it? I was also interested in buying this game down the road. I'm sad the developer is being stupid about this.
Now the dev won't see my money or yours. Absolute "win" for a guy who complained about lack of GOG sales.

There's also the continuing narrative that "Steam saved PC gaming", which is absurdly false. PC gaming was never dying, let lone that Steam did anything to save it. In fact, Steam actively harmed/harms it.

"Going onto GOG I expected maybe something like 10% of Steam, but it's more like 1%. Same with releasing a Linux version. It's all worth so little for us that it's rather annoying to have to do the extra work all the time and carry that weight around. I wouldn't do it again."
I can understand that for Linux the sales would be around that mark due to Linux gamers making up around 1% of the market. But why did so few GOG gamers buy the game? It's a well reviewed game, not too expensive, seems pretty unique, was here for a year?
The market share of GOG should be much bigger than 1%....? What were the numbers from the best case scenario again, i.e. Witcher 3? A third or so purchased on GOG? If not more? If a fraction of those bought the game on GOG, it should be much bigger than 1%...

At least he pulled the game FAST and before it got to much sales (irony, nice irony) and therefor people, who will not be able to buy the upcoming DLC or updates anymore. There are other developers who are not so "open" (hostile?).
Whatever, so no sale from me, never ever. And I bought a dozen games this sale alone...

The lag between releases issue is indeed unbearably bad. So many times I eventually buy a game on steam thinking it'll never get released on gog, only to have it released on gog later. Basically, most AAA games only release on GOG months after they've reached their lowest price elsewhere. Since you have no idea which games will come to steam and which won't, you can't plan for it. And Indies tend to make it to gog a month or two after release, which is the same problem.
