Generally, the issue is started by B1tF1ghter and then snowballs. You can take it personally if you want to but I just reread what I wrote and everything I said was as general as possible. I simply quoted you because you seemed to have the most difficulty seeing what exactly might be pissing people off here.

And still the same brain farts get trotted through each poor freebie thread again and again, so the essential second part of my suggestion appears to be missing.

Well, B1tF1ghter compleained about the marketing issue - I only complained about simply downvote post just because you disagree. So much for reading and understanding. Like I said multiple times, I am subsribed and I do understand why GOG is doing this (after PaterAlf explained this to me). As I also said, I don't share B1tF1ghters opinion regarding GOG and the newsletter but that for me is no reason to downvote him.

I made a thread about the problem of downvoting. Your talent of drawing wrong conclusions is remakable.

But anyway - that truly and honestly was my last word. Please read more careful next time before you are accusing people of things they did not do. Thank you and goodbye.

I don't really care what kind of pet peeves exactly are your problem. It often starts with B1tF1ghter re: marketing emails and then snowballs through an array of different topics. Not all freebie threads contain all of them and it's not always by the same actors but it's always repetitive (and offtopic).
Make your own thread about it somewhere where the people interested in it can go but limit it to a single post per poor original victim thread.

For some of us this is even more repetitive because when you have spent a few decades on the internet you have seen all of this so many times before. For example this is not my first rant against rating systems (they are common in forums with a more technical focus after all) and there are always some few railing against them while not understanding why most of the others consider the issue a feature, not a bug.

This is an off-topic post about the reputation system.

Not all of us use the "downvote" button as some power fantasy enabler ;)
Here I combine it with a couple uBlock origin filters: What this does is that it really hides the post, not even leaving the « Comment buried. » toggle so that I can truly forget about said post. It makes it much easier to ignore messages that would otherwise trigger me into posting an angry answer.

In addition, the filters I shared hide the « low rated » comment added on some posts and the user reputation, registration date and location, to avoid some biases when reading heated discussions.

In the end, the only part of the reputation system I still see on these forums are the « high rated » comments.

i cant see slightest problem with exchanging freebie for agreement with little "spam" about games. anyway, each mailbox is daily getting bunch of it and about topics you dont ever care about..

am i worth downvoting just because of that?

Hey, I understand what you mean in your previous post, and it's clear there's some immaturity when it comes to the use of the downvoting system. It probably should be removed and only leaving up-votes available so it highlights the positive things people are saying instead.

I really don't mind if I get downvoted here with this post, because I always just state how I feel about something without caring what anyone else thinks. I know not everyone will share the same feelings I do though, but I did want to respond to your post.

Just know that I never downvoted any of your posts, and even though we might not agree with each other on things said, I still appreciate you spending time here to help people, or answer questions, or just have open dialogue with people in a healthy manner.
