The problem is that you keep playing forum police (against the forum rules I might add) and deraling threads with your spats with people you accuse of being alts left and right, effectively doing more damage than they even if they are alts indeed. Could you maybe spam mods with your suspicions instead of the forum itself in the future?

Don't bother, it is not like he would admit that and be like yeah dude, you are right. It is internet fake people and accounts and lies exist all the time. We all can claim things, doesn't mean it is true unless there are proofs.

I think these alt accounts are one of the main problems of this place. Pointing them out is not against the forum rules. The discussion is becoming a total farce when people are hiding behind alt accounts and openly admit that they want to "crush this Preservation Program".

Why haven't you released these mods?

I skimmed through this video and it merely states what you have written here. It doesn't answer why you aren't releasing these mods. For some reason you want GOG to release game versions with your mods. As they are ignoring you, you are now attacking the preservation program. This is bullshit.

No, the argument here is about being yellow.
Just look at the title: "Stop this madness! The Preservation Program is killing games!" GoG is doing amazing—you are not forced to use Galaxy. If you want an older version, keep the online installer safe somewhere; don't delete it. The pitch is DRM-free, and they are DRM-free.

I might just add if we all did just open a ticket and then say nothing about the problems we see (or foresee) the only one who'd know the extent of the issue is GOG support staff, and they are not at all a transparent agency we can obtain statistical data from regarding types of problems and the numbers of users experiencing them. Basically if we don't talk about it in threads like this it'd easily get swept under the rug. If the community doesn't talk amongst ourselves, we don't know anything which goes on with GOG except the dribble of information staff decide (and are allowed) to share with us.

And please people, don't derail this thread with personal issues you have with one another or it will give GOG staff a legitimate reason to lock or delete it.

I really hope not, because the only reason I stopped buying from Steam and started buying from GOG is that Valve refuses to allow games to be run on the OSes for which they are designed --- or rather, forces all games to be run on Windows 10+.

I (and others) literally explained earlier : For games where GOG plans some form of aggressive pre-modding / pre-tweaking, to simply keep the last previous offline installer containing that previous version of the game that GOG have to host the files for anyway for Galaxy Rollback. Again I'll repeat since you seem to be a bit "slow" at grasping - the files are already on GOG's servers, just artificially gated for Galaxy users. It really shouldn't be that hard for non-trolls to grasp at this stage that outside of whatever cherry picked single sentence in the thread title you've developed a tunnel-vision obsession with, many MANY other people simply want to see offline installers improved in general for situations such as this.

Have you even read the posts ITT, or at least skimmed them properly? Gog already stores one or more prior installers for galaxy users, so now more space is needed. They simply need to provide links to the older versions to web browser downloaders.

What has been changed with Dragon Age Origins Patch 1.05 GOG 0.8 in comparison to the old 1.05 (A) version?

The first part of the patch changed some Galaxy related files. I think this is what several people here can safely ignore. The second part changed one single file in the bin_ship folder:

The MD5 value for the patched version is 3cd836b58d7f8344f3ed7ed31dfbc323

Both versions have the same file size, but they differ in a few bytes.

To undo the patch without using Galaxy you can use a hex editor and change the following values

Gog should change their "preservation" method and instead of forcing their edits into currently working games with the risk of breaking them in some ways (as mentionned in DAO or Witcher 1) , they should provide those edits as "Preservation Patches" in the Extras category of those games.

This way you can always install your game from the normal offline installer, and so could play the game as it was or f you wish you can manually install community patches/dxwrappers/dgvoodoo/etc... as usual or you can install the gog preservation updates if you prefer.

This way nothing is broken or without way to get back to the working offline installer
