Kingpuddycat: Anyone have confirmation on this or not? I'm guess where it would be on GOG that wouldn't be the case but I just wanted to make sure before I go ahead with this.
Registration is not required to play any Stardock games from GOG (as you'd expect!). You will need to register a free Stardock account to use the GalCiv2 Metaverse so we can associate your game results with a profile. If you don't care about reporting your game results you can play without an account though.

Can those of you who bought the GOG version of Gal Civ II confirm that you do not need to have a Stardock account to play the game?

Maxvorstadt: From the FAQ about Offworld Trading Company:
"Does Offworld Trading Company use Steam?
Offworld Trading Company will be distributed exclusively through Steam. Whether you buy it directly from our publisher Stardock, through Steam, or through another retailer, you will receive a Steam code that you will then need to link to your Steam account in order to download and play."
So GoG will sell Steam keys for OTC?
I'd presume the answer is "no" it does not require steam as use of steam, even "non-drm steam" most certainly is DRM. However based on the text you quoted I totally understand why you'd like to get a firm and specific answer to this question. Hopefully one will be supplied to us soon :)

Thanks for providing a dev presence here on the GOG forums. We really do appreciate it when companies take the trouble to put in a official appearance.
Great to see them here. Not sure if I will get Gal Civ 3 since I have it on Steam and am a bit short on money atm (so I sure wishlist it) but I sure as hell get going to get Fallen Enchantress Legendary Heroes. Hope it will relase soon.

Whoops! We missed that in our updates. I pointed it out to our web folks so we get that corrected.

For the record, OTC will be available on GOG as a GOG game, no Steam involved.

Ah, thanks for the info! :-) So all Stardock games will be published here without Steam connection and Stardock registration?

Thanks for the warm welcome folks! I will be around intermittently as I can spare time from game tasks.

P.S. In reply to the "GalCiv1 vs. 2 vs. 3" discussions: I worked on GalCiv3 so I'm biased. That said, GalCiv3 is a modern 64-bit only game. That enables a massive scale, better AI, and some nice UI and resolution options missing from the older versions. Plus GalCiv3 is the game we're actively working on... patch 1.4 recently improved the AI substantially and my team will be making a big contribution to patch 1.5.

budejovice: Thanks for the links! For, I have now seen one of my favorite game reviews:

"I felt this game didn't really offer all that much long term playability for its price point at $20, and now at $40 its become a blatent rip off." 85.4 hours on record. :)
Oh that's a great review :)
