Too late and missing out is rarely a thing nowadays. One wants to do things the proper way when one can, but when one is punished for coloring inside the lines, one has alternatives. There's always the backup of the internet.

No idea why they were removed, but it is a bad move by whomever decided to do that esp. the way it is implemented on gog. Unfair to anyone who bought the game in its original form, regardless whether some think those expansions sucks or are waste of space (they are freaking 2MB each! - even in the days of floppies, it would fit on one floppy in a compressed archive).

I have the steam version bough before this whole merging of titles by bathesda and the separate wolf3d and spear of destiny is still in my library. Although Wolf3d after update does come with its own SoD and new buyers can't get the old standalone SoD with the additional expansions. I guess bathesda just doesn't care, or they thought nobody would notice if this was a deliberate action and not a case of simple neglect, trademark of corporations when it comes to classic games.

Timboli: It's a crap thing to do to customers, but it might be that the two expansions were erroneously included in the first place, not having had the permissions to do so, so Bethesda just silently removed them., that being the whole point for combining.

NOTE - I notice a few of the reviews here at GOG mention the Mission packs for Spear Of Destiny, and say they are a waste of space, don't offer anything and diminish the overall game.
It's a prequel series of missions that for better or worse, is more Wolf3D.

Yep, I know that, so was just commenting.

I backed up my copy long ago, immediately after I bought it from GOG, so no loss for me, and maybe in reality no loss for others, though being a collector I would always want it, good or bad. Hell I even bought the Noah's Ark variant.

I've still not played those mission packs, or even Spear Of Destiny for that matter, but dog willing I will one day.

In fact, I am thinking of doing a chronological play through of Apogee/ID/Raven games at least. Though I would be remiss not to include some others like the Duke and Rise Of The Triad and WWII GI and many related others. Maybe it will be a New Year's Resolution.

P.S. And I've just noticed the following, which is something to look forward to.

I just noticed in my library a Wolfenstein: Spear of Destiny entry, so looks like it's back

foad01: I've read about three cases where games disappeared.

The Elder Scrolls: Arena
https://www.gog.com/en/game/the_elder_scrolls_arena

The Elder Scrolls II: Daggerfall
https://www.gog.com/en/game/the_elder_scrolls_chapter_ii_daggerfall

In these cases you can directly add them back.

The third case are the missing Spear of Destiny expansions. Bethesda repackaged Wolfenstein and Spear of Destiny on all platforms. For some reason the new package doesn't have the expansions. This must be an oversight by Bethesda.
As far as I understand it, Bethesda does not own the rights to those two Spear of Destiny mission packs. They were originally created by a defunct company called Formgen, which was acquired by one of the Atari companies.

As a result, Bethesda has to pay publishing rights to Atari for those two mission packs. Whatever agreement Bethesda and Atari have has most likely lapsed, so that's why they were removed. People who purchased Wolf 3D and Spear of Destiny before that agreement lapsed will still have Spear of Destiny and both mission packs. New purchasers of Wolf 3D and Spear of Destiny will only get Spear of Destiny itself without the two mission packs.

The first sentence is the most important thing to me. The second sentence is certainly unfortunate but if your legal info is correct we can't blame GOG for that.
