Earth and Beyond. EA shut it down before it really got a chance to start. There is a fairly active emulator community for it, but it's just not the same.

Visiting various MMO forums keeps reminding me why I don't play MMOs anymore and why I appreciate what GOG is doing. It would be a big compromise of main GOG's principle - no DRM, including stuff like always-online.

It's called "Community / General discussion".
It's mostly text-based, and a bit laggy. It can take minutes to interact with other players. Especially the blue wizards! But it has more players than most MUDs nowadays.
