Watched it on friday with the missus. We liked it although I was annoyed by some discrepancies (healing factor is derived from Wolverine's, not a mutation etc...). Loved the 4 yorkshiremen reference.
BTW in Portugal the movie was only M14.

GR00T: Doubtful. From what I've heard they were too scared to do a Wonder Woman movie because the lead would have to be a woman.I doubt the two movies you mention will break any molds. Although I'll probably go see them anyway...
avatar
Breja: You do realise they are shooting the Wonder Woman movie right now?
Really? I thought she was just going to be a character in Batman vs Superman.

There's even been some footage released.

Yeah, but apparently they were reluctant to do it for some time. Finally decided it may be a good idea (although I question the casting choice for Wonder Woman). Anyway, I guess it's neither here nor there. I'm not nearly as critical of movies as many are. I just want to be entertained when it comes to action/hero/superhero movies, and don't worry too much about breaking molds or rewriting the forumla. I leave that to more serious flicks. I usually get what I'm looking for.

14+ here (meaning anyone younger has to be accompanied by an adult)

Breja: snip

Gilozard: I think the new Ghostbusters looks possibly interesting too. The bit of pre-release stuff I've seen looks promising.
How dare you! That movie is going to be utter shite! :P

Sweet. I'll keep an eye out.

Wonder Woman was originally invented by a genuine creep who was also a bondage fan because hey, why not, no one was paying attention to cartoons anyway, but I hope she gets a good movie. At this point she's an iconic character a la Batman or Superman and deserves to fly her proud, wacked out corset-and-bondage flag in a decent movie.

I don't actually know what the movie's rating is here in Denmark, but given that they "censored" a perfectly good nipple shot, it's certainly much lower than the American R rating.
Doesn't "R" rated mean it's "Restricted" to 18 years and over. Meaning you can't actually take kids into it?

I thought that's what it meant.

In the States it means "Restricted without an adult". I guess rating it RWAA would have been too much of a pain.
Never read the comic but I really enjoyed this movie. The jokes, the music, the action...it all fit together well. I'm glad to see Morena Baccarin having post-Firefly success and glad to see Ryan Reynolds having better luck with a superhero movie than he had with Green Lantern. Big thumbs up
It was really good but they (probably the Indian censor board) muted out some dialogue which was a bit disappointing. :(

Edit: Also they apparently cut a few scenes as well.

So, I've finally seen it... and I don't get what's all the fuss about. It's ok. It's an entertaining movie. But it's nothing great, or all that new and fresh. Honestly it's actually far more tame then I expected. Which is a good thing when it comes to humor, it actually manages to balance out the cartoonish side of it with the emotional side of the story that grounds it and prevents the movie from being just a two hour long sketch. But the action was not nearly the balls to the wall stuff I expected. In that department Deadpool is actually very been there-done that. Not "bad", it's all made well enough, but I could name you a dozen movies that did this kind of action stuff better.

It's a fun movie, but really, it's far more in-line with the usual Marvel-style stuff then I was led to believe. It might be a game changer in terms of it's R-rating/box office, but as far as the movie itself is concerned, this is not one of those paradigm changing movies.

Also, there was some stuff that annoyed me, mostly- Deadpool wasn't nearly ugly enough. Yeah, I know this sounds weird but I wasn't buying it for a moment, that this was so bad he'd feel he can't go back to his girlfriend. With the kind of relationship we've seen them have, it's just not believeable for him to think that. In a nuthsell- Darkman did it better.

Breja: At worst, crude and cringeworthy.
avatar
darthspudius: Of course it is crude and cringe worthy, it is suppose to be, Its fucking Deadpool! I find it odd that one of the more obscure super "heroes" has suddenly became one of the most over hyped and popular. Really strange lol.
Its not strange thats whats suppose to happen to rad super awesome badas*es like DEADPOOL
avatar
Elmofongo: And let me tell you the Hardcore Marvel fans are gonna eat this shit up.

Its like as if 20th Century Fox made this movie as a way of saying "i am sorry about Fant4stic, here's a better movie"

And yes it went no holds barred with its R rating. And Ryan Renolds was practically ment to play Deadpool.

And yes the movie did an admirable job of making a proper Origin story about this character/

But as to what I really think, its was just ok. I laughed at some of the jokes I found clever, but facepalmed at the ones I found ball-bustingly predictable. And my goodness the references and puns. To quote the villian of the movie "We got a talker over here"

But if there is one criticism I have to give to this movie is that I found it...not as "Whacky" as I thought it would be.

The problem is that Deadpool is such a cartoonish character that the fact he is live action feels like it restricts how imagination the movie can have. IMO this is one of those movies that should have been completely animated.

Well that's my 2 cents.

Styxx42: I totally agree.
He was Cartoon made to copy all that was cool in Marvel and try and make a new character.
I do hope you were able to enjoy it though in some way....
