nightcraw1er.488: Whilst I am not going to start this debate again, for me having to use a client in any sense of the word would indicate to me that the game is not free, as money is not the only price to be paid. Hence for my personal information it is important that I know whether a client is required or not, as I am sure other people are also interested. Once a person has all the facts then they can assess individually whether the product is for them or not, don't try to hide certain information just because your happy with it.
Thank you.
paladin181: The point is that it is free by the definition of the word as not costing money. Throwing your own personal definition into a debate is just muddying the waters. Free is free, DRM free is DRM free. There are plenty of free games out there that require a client. Needing that information before committing is fine. It does not, however affect the actual monetary price of the object in question.
So, if that client sends all the information back to the company in question, and they profit from that someone is making money (I mean do you have the foggiest of what that software is doing?), if my machine collapses because of some poorly coded application and I have to spend hours rebuilding, that is time and effort lost on my part. Both of these are unecessary and "cost". Much the same as I wouldn't want to have to signup to emails if I want to play or game, or the numerous other methods used to get information out of customers.
Anyways, my question is answered, there is a client. That's all I needed.
