Dear Forum Members,

U have heard that the Sacred trilogy can be one of the best RP experiences ever. I am wondering, if I only had time to play one (which I barely do), which one is the most essential?

I appreciate any and all feedback.

You heard incorrectly.

Sacred 1 never ran correctly for me. And what I saw wasnt all that good.

Sacred 2 is a fun time, but does grow monotonous. It's a large land, you run around and kill stuff.

Sacred 3 is a very linear action game with a very different feel than the others. It's generally considered the worst, I think, because it was so different. It's similar in feel to a single dungeon in Diablo 3, repeated a lot.

So overall, not that great. But, not horrible either. I personally enjoyed sacred 2 and 3 about the same but for different reasons. They are definitely more fun multiplayer than solo. Sacred 3 is strongly built to be cooperatively played.

So, if I was to choose one, if I had to choose one, I'd choose Titan Quest.

A man of fine taste I see. Titan Quest indeed still holds the throne.

But on topic....

Sacred 1 is a bit old and bland IMHO.

Sacred 2 is the biggest, most complete experience and I had a great time playing it. But what the previous poster said is true. It IS monotonous. A little bit into the game and most of your progression will just be getting higher numbers in skills you use from level 10-200. Definitely worth a single complete playthrough just to experience the breath taking graphics, various hand crafted locations and the huge, HUGE world it has to offer.

Sacred 3 is a mobile game sold on PCs and should be avoided like the trash it is. Unless you are a fan of mobile games that is.

So my recommendation would be Sacred 2.
Grim Dawn is better than Titan Quest IMO

But on topic - I'd go with Sacred 2

Bigs: Grim Dawn is better than Titan Quest IMO
Gameplay wise, yes, it is more polished. As should be expected from a much newer game. But Titan Quest is the more complete package to me. The setting, the music (exceptional soundtrack), the enemies, everything just is more appealing to me than in Grim Dawn. There is no need for grinding in TQ, it feels like a journey from the beginning to the end and the game just sucked me in. I never quite got the same feeling in GD. It feels kind of... hmmm what to call it... "generic??" to me. Don't get me wrong, GD is a very good game, but TQ just speaks to me more.
Hmmm...

Sacred 1 - fun little game, though a bit old. I'd still play it, tough be more fun with other players. Also having the same voice actor from unwritten tales is fun to listen to, he really put a lot of comedy in that role.

Sacred 2 - 3D, well done area, feels like an MMO in single player. I beat the game, though again more players would be more fun in a party.

Sacred 3 - I was excited til the game came out. Seeing what it was, rather than what we expected. I think when TB reviewed it first with it's history, then reviewed it disconnecting it from the series and looking at it standalone. Can't say i cared either way, button mashing isn't really my thing.
I enjoyed Sacred. However, it's important to note that Sacred is more hack and slash than a massive epic RPG in the vein of Baldur's Gate 2, or the many hugely storied worlds of major RPG games.

Sacred 1 - I would recommend it as tighter and more compact experience that isn't too short but not extraneously long either. The graphics are still crisp and attractive, holding up fairly decently for an older game.

Sacred 2 - More epic in size and proportions. Larger everything, and better graphics if it's important factor to you. There is some difference in navigation from Sacred 1. I do think Sacred 1 is smoother in this aspect.

Sacred 3 - Haven't played it, so can't say. I've heard more negative things than positive. Seems to have a better UI than 2 though.

I thought this is about the original Star Wars.

How did it leave out the name at the end though?

Pff, I just hope you don't call yourself a gamer. Thinking about movies while it's clearly about a well-known trilogy in games *shakes head*

Also left the "The" off the beginning of the topic title. But I dunno. "Something something getting smarter all the time something somthing"?

Clearly the first iteration of AI spambots.
Did not even knew there was a Sacred 3. Thought the whole franchise went belly up after S2. But from what I read here its not much to miss either.

"best RP experiences ever"? That would actually be with Pen and Paper roleplaying games and a good group.

The games I played which tried their best to emulate that [the choice and consequence based on your liking and character build] where "Fallout 1"; "Fallout 2", "Arcanum"; to some extend "Vampire: Bloodlines" and "Fallout: New Vegas". Not played yet but from what I heard "The Age of Decadence" and "Underrail" are there too.

Sacred (1&2 at least) are fun ISO action RPG romps. Played any Diablo title? You know the drill. If you are looking for that kind of game the Sacreds are solid. The Torchlights if you want something with a bit of an cartoony flair. Titan Quest is really awesome too. Unless you like Greatswords or Greataxes. Then its an really awesome game you don't play because it does not have any of your favorite RPG weapons. Rumor has it that TQ even had both short before release. But then several other companys and their bank contacts banded together and went to the TQ devs and said "Your game is too perfect. Only god is allowed to be perfect. Do not release a perfect game or we end you!" and the TQ devs offered to remove all most favored 2H weapons which calmed the others and they where allowed to proceed.

True story.

I digress.
