Maxvorstadt: Oh, and one thing on multiple accounts:
There`s a guy who made funny forum games and for that purpose he made multiple accounts for impersonating fictive characters to add fun to the game.
Would he be banned for such harmless fun?
Most likely not, unless some/many forum users would find it annoying.

I'm signing off but will check back a couple times over the weekend. Please, be nice to each other! :)

*reads new rules*......all very fair, no complaints to that lot.

fables22: The new rules are up here - https://support.gog.com/hc/en-us/articles/115001814049-Forum-Code-of-Conduct. I've updated the OP as well but thought I'd drop the link here as well for better visibility. I'm aware that, on certain sized monitors, there might be a few formatting issues, but I don't think that's too much of a problem - I believe the document is readable just find as it is.

Please note that, while constructive feedback is always welcome, there won't be any updates or changes to the rules in the near future. I believe it's best if we test them out as they are and, in a couple months' time, we can perhaps evaluate the situation and see how it works for us. Thanks for your co-operation!
The new forum rules seem fine to me. While there is some ambiguity to how they're worded and some might even point that out, I think that the overall intention is obvious and that GOG need not specify with great specificity individual words or terms when it should be obvious to everyone the overall spirit of what is meant. I think we can trust GOG's (and thus your) judgment in weighing problem cases that arise on a case by case basis both against the intention of the rules, and the intentions of the posters to make a good judgment call in either case.

If anything, if any ambiguity causes one to be unsure about things the age old idiom of erring on the side of caution should be how people conduct themselves. In other words... "If you're not sure if you can do xyz, then play it safe and don't do xyz."

Common sense for the most part. Now lets see how it all works in practice moving forward.

Thanks for doing all of this.
Nobody can pick on me anymore or I'm telling.

thomq: Actually, going to the last page is a per-member forum setting. Though that might be the default setting, it can be set to "take me to the first page". It's named "When I enter the topic:", in the "My Settings" at the top of any forum page (next to "My Questions").

catpower1980: It's also the default setting for "lurkers", when you're not logged in. But hey, at least it reminded me I should check the "my settings" page to change that ;)
I consider this to be a bad default. When viewing a thread that you haven't been keeping up-to-date on (which, for a lurker, is nearly always the case), going straight to the last page results in a complete lack of context.

Also, even if you are following a topic, last page is often not useful, particularly if there is a new page since you last checked the topic. A more useful option would be to go to the first new post in the topic.

ABSOLUTELY. 100%.

Just remember, that door swings both ways.

thomq: Yes, I hope I didn't sound like I was dismissing it. Another thing I noticed is that the topics in the forum listings will have a page range after the title when more than one page, f.e. [p: 1 – 10]. The numbers themselves are a link to the first page and a link to the last page. So regardless of the (hopefully chosen) setting, either the first or last page can be chosen when visiting a topic. Not that it's always obvious, I recall I didn't pick up on it right away.
Unfortunately, there are two issues with this:

1. The forum's main page, where it shows favorite topics, topics you recently posted in for the first time, and popular topics, does not have the page range.

2. There is no option to go to the next to last page of the topic without first visiting another page of it; this is extremely annoying if there is a new page since the last time you checked the topic.

Telika: unless you clearly note that this is what your post is about at the top of it.

227: Which is bizarre when you stop to think about it. Take the bell timing puzzle in Silver as an example; if someone shows up having problems with it because the game runs too fast for the puzzle to be completable, a helpful poster can't link to the player-created save anywhere tool that allows one to bypass it without first sounding the trumpets and declaring that thar be a cheat ahead.

Makes sense for spoilers since we don't have spoiler tags, but the other stuff is kind of arbitrary.
There's another problem with this rule (which I don't like): How do you define what is a cheat or exploit and what isn't? It's not always clear, and there are situations where one player might consider something an exploit, and another player might not.

I find that offensive, are you implying I'm bisexual or homosexual?

Please clarify.

Fables isn't stupid Kleetus. :P

You want to act this way, fine, everyone here can see through it.

I'll leave you alone to play your little game.

Yeah, so much for that "no rep abuse" part :D

Telika: How does

WE DO NOT TOLERATE Using a third party’s intellectual property (full or partial scans of articles, books, full transcriptions of articles, etc.) unless you have permission to do so.

Telika: work, given how many discussions about authors, artists, culture or science, do require textual, visual, or audiovisual quotes ?

Has this become intolerable ? What about movie screenshots (we have a whole forum game based on them) ? What about youtube excerpts of movies ?

What is your take on fair use and quotation rights ?
I'll just answer this very briefly - the examples you stated are OK, I would, at this point in time, consider them OK.
