ariaspi: The problem with this game is that it can become a bit addictive. I bought it in spring 2016 and it gave me some sleepless nights back then. I believe it was at Alpha 13 then and now it's at Alpha 17. Probably the next alpha will be released till Christmas.

There are tons of mods for it and the community is pretty big. Anyone interested in the game should not wait for discounts because there won't be any soon. Here's the developer's twitter, for anybody interested.
not only are there no discounts (and there will not be until the game have been released for at least one year), but the price tends to go up a little bit ever so often

Yeah, I remember reading something like that on the forums. But I think the price will stay at $30, or did you read something suggesting an increase?

Tynan has stated a couple of times that he will not raise the price once it releases. Others are saying they expect it to go up "over time".

You are right. I wasn't sure if I remember correctly because I've read all that a year ago.
So pretty sure the price will stay the same. He seems a very honest person to me and also the game sold extremely well on the steam launch, so no need to become greedy.

I would not call it greed. It makes sense that the early adopters got it a little bit cheaper as they took more of a risk, and that the price gradually rices as it moves closer to release and gets more and more content. In the same vein, it also makes sense not to discount the game until it is actually completed.
This is one of the games i wish would release here, preferably when 1.0, but in-dev would be tempting too.
Another i've been checking again after loosing track is Starsector (previously Starfarer).
This is however in a worst indev state, since it's been worked on since 2010. The latest blog post is revealing (third rewrite of the ingame economy system). Game looks very promising in current state, but i have little hope of it reaching 1.0 in a timely manner.

still not as bad as Kenshi, which was started in 2008? 2009?

Really that long? That's one of the concerns i have about in-dev on gog. No matter how promising the game, and i do have several on my checklist, there is no guarantee when it will reach 1.0, if ever.
One of the advantages of Rimworld over Dwarf Fortress is that you actually have events to react to. Dwarf Fortress is pretty static, normally if something goes wrong it's because you did something wrong. Rimworld has weather events, animal attacks, and a variety of hostile attackers, which makes the game feel a lot more alive.

It retains the same great descriptions for art, though. Any time someone makes anything artistic like a statue or a gravestone, it has a detailed description of something happening, which may or may not be an event that occurred on your colony. They tend to be pretty amazing.
Look interesting, I'll definitely keep my eye on it and wait for the final release.

tinyE: From the makers of Prison Architect it looks like.

So voted.

Thanks Amok.

amok: No, it is completely different teams. RimWorld is made by Ludeon Studios, while Prison Architect was made by Introversion. They just use a similar graphical style. However, I must say I am having more fun with RimWorld than i did with PA.

RimWorld has actually been in development since 2013.
Interestingly enough Introversion allowed Ludeon Studios to use Prison Architect assets as placeholders until Ludeon Studios could make customized assets. In earlier builds the a lot of the items and people in the game were from prison architect. Probably why they look similar now.
Rimworld just got it's 1.0 full release

From Ludeon support: "As far as I know there are no plans for adding RimWorld on GOG in the future. Unfortunately I do not know why this is. It may be because there are already several places to buy the game; our website, Steam and the HumbleBundle store."
