Goodbyes are not forever (and war never changes).

It's not the first time we give this advice, but remember to take your Rad-X pills, try not to mistake a G.E.C.K for a gecko (not even remotely the same thing!), and take good care of yourself out there in the wasteland: Fallout, the premiere post nuclear role playing game franchise, is back.
The Fallout games have been with us on day one, and they played an inseparable part in defining the early GOG.com catalog. When they got swept away by radioactive winds, a gaping hole the size of California was left behind that we haven't quite been able to fill... until now!

Once again, you can pick up all three RPG classics at 66% off in a single post-apo bundle that includes:
--Fallout
--Fallout 2
--Fallout Tactics

We're welcoming Bethesda Softworks to GOG.com with more bundles, and tons of new classic releases - all DRM-free of course - and don't forget that two The Elder Scrolls classics (The Elder Scrolls: Arena and The Elder Scrolls II: Daggerfall) will drop like a bomb straight into your library, completely FREE with any Bethesda purchase. The bundle promos end on Wednesday, September 2, 12:59 PM GMT.

Stream watch:
Twitch.tv/GOGcom is worth your attention - we'll be showing off all three returning Fallout games over the next few days, along with many other Bethesda releases!

wolfsite: GFWL would always crash my PC when I got to the Brotherhood of Steel Base, thankfully a mod helped with that but the game would still crash every now and then with all fingers pointing to GFWL in one form or another.
Well, F:NV:U and F3:GOTY from Steam, is what I meant. Can get a good offer, if one periodically checks. Both are required for Tale of Two Wastelands, which is a must. But yes, this is a DRM, and pointless one since they all are single player-only games.

No soundtrack as bonus :(

Still, I might consider buying it.
This is such great news! Ahh.. GOG you've done it again!
Thanks for taking care of us good old gamers, we all appreciate the work you do!

codenaga: why don't you tell us then so we don't have to look through the entire thread to find the answer? thanks!

To be fair, I have read the entire thread and I still don't know the answer, hence why I asked the question again:

Good to have these back. Still disappointed that they're reportedly the censored European versions though.

Also, anyone else notice that this rereleases have separate game entries than the original pre-rerelease versions? What's the difference besides the bonuses?

EDIT: Never mind. Poster below me pretty much answered it for the most part.

I do know the answer, hence the edit.

Well the answer to my original question is known. It's because the re-releases have a different ID. Why they have been given a different ID is another question.

Finally it is back and my German audio+text files made it into the installers too. :)
I still wonder why they did get new IDs but whatever, probably for people that want to have them twice in their shelves.

I think this has to do something with the redesign and how bonus content is managed. Remember when "The Unbundling" started? Some games (Tomb Raider) suddenly had extremly "useful" descriptions for their bonus content, like product_bonus_12345. And this bonus content is tied to a game ID. Since the current version of Fallout doesn't have any bonus content, GOG had to give it another ID. Again: That's what I think is the reason.

If you're kind, you could edit your post on page1 with the link to the blue's reply :P

That's not a reason.

For example, "Men of War Vietnam" and "Men of War Vietnam Special Edition" have different IDs, yet both are marked as owned for me (I bought only the latter, obviously). The same is true of at least a dozen other games on GOG.

I am more than sure, it has all to do with a fight between Interplay and Bethesda.
Initial release on GOG was with license from Interplay. After I. and B. settled things, IP was transfered to B., and (logical assumption) contract between I. and GoG was nullified.

Now, GoG has established new contract with B. (logical assumption, because there is a lot of IP of B. in other bundle) and hence they try to re-fill the package to what it originally contained.

This is (another logical assumption) is also the reason for separate id. " * classic " are titles from old contract with I., which obviously are not offered to purchase anymore, current release is from contract with B.

I guess, if they manage to level the xtra-content between both, they could migrate all older IDs to newer IDs. No idea, if checksums would change, though.

/ end of speculations

In that case, laziness/lack-of-attention.

Assumption 1: Owning any of Bethesda published games grants you Arena and Daggerfall.
Assumption 2: Bethesda doesn't want to give Arena and Daggerfall to people who may have gotten the Fallouts from Interplay's free offer.
Conclusion: Two game IDs. One grants you Arena and Daggerfall, the other doesn't. Games remains the same (as confirmed by blues).

TheRazorek: I had them already. Does that mean I won't get TES: Arena & Duggerfall?
You can get Daggerfall DRM free for no cost from Bethesda site

Oh wow, Fallout is a series of great, classic RPGs, real retro games that definitely belong on GOG.com!
Definitely instab- hold on, wait a minute!
