Wow! That's basically never seen in modern games, right?

They still release games with LAN. Closest I remember is stardew valley and divinity original sin. Though this game was released on PSP back in the day so technically it's not a modern game. But nevertheless it's great to see a Japanese game with LAN support.

SargonAelther: Whose resources?
Both company's resources.
My opinion is that the game is not good enough to exist as a Falcom product.

SargonAelther: I honestly don't think Falcom lifted a finger.
Falcom MADE THE GAME. And they wasted resources developing this thing instead of putting those resources towards an actually good product.
(I KNOW they can do better than this)

refint/games wasted resources publishing this. But I do not actually know if they could do better.

Obviously the companies disagree with me and maybe you do too. But that's my opinion on it.

I think Baldurs Gate 3 had LAN support.

Yeah Falcom made this... 15 years ago. I was referring to NOW. I don't think Falcom lifted a finger in republishing this game. I think it was all Refint. And as such, I am glad that they did. I hope they will republish Ys 5 next.

Anyway, there is one issue. GOG soundtrack consists of only MP3 files. Steam soundtrack comes with MP3 and FLAC. I'm going to ask them to publish the FLAC files here too.

I see what you mean. Yeah I would imagine Falcom did not have to do a lot to republish this.
But do you actually enjoy playing through this game?

Turns out Refint supplied GOG with the FLAC, but GOG did not upload it. Sigh... I will need to nag them on Monday.

I've not had a chance to even try it yet LOL. I will when I get the chance. But outside of that, I was aware that this game existed, but that it was largely forgotten and abandoned, not unlike Ys 5. So I'm glad it got brought back for completionism's sake, if nothing else.

This may also be the second to last Falcom game we'll ever get by the looks of it, so I was going to buy it regardless to try to change that as much as possible.

I actually played the PSP version and it was quite enjoyable. Obviously the story is bad but doing some battles against the CPU was fun. I just wish they included Kevin and some other missing Ys characters.
We will need the FLAC! I dunno what happened there, guess some usual GOG failure.

I was testing the game and it actually felt like a mix between Disgaea, Xanadu, obviously YS and many more genre. It is weird but can be enjoyed, for sure. I was only getting it because of the required GOG support and the price is actually very fair.

Nah, i would not start to become unnecessary depressed. So far the only jerk was GungHo, from them nothing GOG could expect, as sad as it sounds.

The other Falcom-games may still see the sun on GOG... sooner or later. However, we may have to make our voice count.

The lack of Ys X: Proud Nordics page is extremely concerning. We used to get all the store pages at the same time as Steam. We did for Ys vs Trails and Horizon too. Not for the Sky remake, nor Proud Nordics. People should vote.

I assume it is not even necessarily NISA but at least with same force the new Falcom-leadership that is kinda now acting ignorant with the support of anything considered "smaller than themself". Although, i know those people are probably not religious at all, it may provide bad karma and other side effects we do not know about for now.

Anyway, so far there is enough of room for hope; only judge it if there is a good reason for.

Wow, it's probably one of the most pleasant surprises (at least for me) in this year.

I appreciate another game on PC from the genre, that is not that common (plays totally fine, by the way, you don't need console to enjoy party games/brawling games/etc),

I am surprised with the fact, that I have (at the moment) no idea about Ys or Trails universes - and game still plays really well. It was a bit of gamble from my side (no demo and I didn't play original version), but hey, it feels really fine. Although I still am trying to better use those special moves.

Eh, it has some of those "manga/anime" aesthethics, that I'm not a big fan (like throwing some weird looking "mascot" Lappy participating in dialogues), or kids handling guns or blade weapons with no problem, plus momentarily very "juvenile" way of presenting plot/dialogues), but forgiving this part (which are quite often in japanese games), it's a really enjoyable "brawler"

Didn't had a chance to play with someone else yet, but will try after mastering those "specials". And good news regarding multiplayer without DRMs - there is also LAN and split/same screen option, so no need for extra services/accounts/etc to enjoy this part.

Well then maybe it's time for you to begin your trails and Ys journeys :) They are long games especially trails but the older Ys games take about 10 hours to complete :)
Any news on the missing FLAC OST incident?
Unfortunately if it comes to missing stuff, lack of updates, and whatelse... GOG is a sitting horror, not even walking... and it surely was hurting their image a lot, else they would probably have several times more gamers.

It simply is not a GOG thing, keeping stuff "up to date". I still hope it may be possible for this and some other games, soon.
