The one and only.

World of Goo, an ultra-popular paragon of DRM-free physics-based indie gaming, is available now for Windows, Mac OS X and Linux, on GOG.com with a 50% launch discount.

World of Goo is one of the most stirring and innovative indie games ever released. It, along with a few other titles, was responsible for the explosive emergence of the modern indie-gaming market in the late 2000s. Its success could be attributed to the high quality gameplay achieved for a fraction of normal development costs, novel design and physics-based gameplay, as well as the refreshingly down to earth, community-friendly developer attitude. World of Goo is a physics-puzzle game at its core, but remains a completely unique gameplay and visual experience that has been imitated, but never quite replicated.

Save the World of Goo from the nefarious World of Goo Corporation, DRM-free on GOG.com. The 50% launch discount will last for one week, until Thursday, February 12, at 10:59 AM GMT.

timppu: ...in case one has also some Android device (who wouldn't nowadays?).
I don't - no iDevices either other than a nano - and I'm not interested either. I like my dumb phone. If there's one thing I really hate about the whole smart phone craze is how glued people are to those damn things. It just annoys the bejeezus out of me. I mean, hello, there are other people here! Seriously, I swear it's getting to a point they should be banned in places. Gee, how did people live without them before? *le sigh* It's especially depressing when watching the younger generation with them. Ugh. It just hurts my brain thinking about it.

That ramble aside (=P) tablets are also of little use to me. I did go through a research period last summer looking at a whole bunch of them and comparison, and in the end decided it wouldn't be worth it as I'd end up doing the same thing on them as I would my PC but in a much more restricted environment, especially when it would be used most at home.

Man, I'm feeling old and I'm not that old, goddamnit! I've only just turned 33. Bleh.

I tend to use my phone constantly, well except when I'm home. Constantly forget it's on silent and leave it somewhere. xD

I only have a dumb phone, but got myself a cheap 10'' Android tablet as a comic reader for the Humble Comic Bundles and by now use it as a map (with OSMand / Open Street Maps Android) and rarely for a bit of casual gaming although my OpenPandora has way superior controls and a bigger free games/apps library. I don't have any Google-play account since every app I've got is either from Fdroid or is a Humble-apk.

No Apple stuff here though.

Klumpen0815: Hopefully, the GoG version will include the Android port at some point when they finally add Android (which they most likely will at some point).
That'd be really nice if they did that. A number of titles here could be instantly available - Kingdom Rush, Triple Town, 1849, and probably some others.
Sorry GOG, after so much time I already have three licenses for this game, 2 of them DRM free.

CharlesGrey: Didn't know that -- as far as I remember many of the popular Indie games with German retail releases were tied to Steam. ( Trine 1 & 2, Braid, Limbo... Pretty sure at least some of these came with Steam. )
avatar
Klumpen0815: I have got the German retail from Braid and the UK retail from Trine 1 too, both DRM free just like World of Goo.
Strange, maybe some of them had multiple releases/ versions? Because I certainly would have bought some of them as retail version already, if they had been DRM-free back then. But I remember people talking about Steam requirements in the comments/product reviews, and I think it was part of the official requirements as well. But that was a few years ago.

Excuse my ignorance, but Open-what? :o

Considering that this game was DRM free from the beginning, I'm frankly amazed that it hasn't shown up here before now. For those who don't already have it, I highly recommend it. It's a great game with a good sense of humor.

RadonGOG: We all know the story of GOG rejecting games that were bundled too often...
I haven't heard that story. Tell me the tale, grandfather! :P

avatar
RadonGOG: ... other great "heavy-bundled games" like Braid, SuperMeatBoy, Bastion, Limbo and so on ...

Vote for them!

I really would have sworn that Bastion was already on GOG...oh, well, I've voted for it, at least.

CharlesGrey: OK, seems the base price for Terraria is about the same as for World of Goo? I do seem to remember it was really cheap when they introduced it, though. Like 75% off, or more?
Yep, 75% off (2.49 USD). And I've been kicking myself for not picking it up either then, or during whichever big holiday sale it was in late last year with a similar discount.
Good addition, but wishlisted for now. I've already got a digital copy (or two) of it lying around. For a buck or two I wouldn't mind getting a third, but at this price... nope!
A bit late, but nice release nonetheless.

zaine-h: I still have the CD of this. I might pick this up this weekend if something else I want is on sale, so fingers crossed.
avatar
Smannesman: Why would you get World of Goo if something else you want is on sale?
I'm not terribly motivated to get it by itself. However, I will add it to the basket along with something from the weekend sale if there is something interesting. Yeah, I bet it sounds weird.
Thank you, GOG! World Of Goo was one of the indie games I most wanted to see released here. :)

Now, i hope you will get Aquaria here too (and gradually follow all Humble Bundle releases)
Most of these games was in Humble Bundle, right...?

Better late than never! It's good to see that these groundbreaking indie 'classics' like Braid and Limbo still have a chance of making it into GOG's catalog at some point in the future.

As for me, World of Goo is one of those games I missed during my gaming absence, and so I'm happy to finally get a chance to try it out and support GOG at the same time. This is also to say that yes, there are people who exist who do not yet own this game.
